Came for a dinner, have to have a reservation. The building is really beautiful from the outside, but we were surprised to see that the inside doesn’t match, really bare and plain.The food however is really good! The chicken starter is great and juicy, the devilled cheese was a nice take too.Had the flounder and the strip loin for mains and were very happy with them. The chocolate cake was delicious too.Service is very kind and professional and the wine menu is decent.

We went to Husk for brunch, first time for us, but, the couple we were with had gone many times. After experiencing this restaurant, I can see why they wanted to go back. Service was great from the time we walked in, from learning how all of their vendors were from local places, to the high quality and flavor of the food. Highly recommend.

We went to Husk the night before my birthday and had a wonderful time. First, the location is so quaint and beautiful. We spent time taking pictures outside of the restaurant before going in and taking in the beauty/history of the building.Once inside we were shown to our seats and were given our menu. The menu was custom print to celebrate my birthday by saying “Happy Birthday” below the date.We ended up sharing some appetizers and meals and the food was delicious. The pimento cheese, broadbent country ham, buttermilk biscuits, and husk pickles appetizer was phenomenal. We talked about it the rest of the trip.Yes, this restaurant has fantastic food, but the service and hospitality is what takes it a step above. Highly recommend

We heard many good things about Husk and wanted to try it ourselves. We couldn’t get a reservation so put our name on the list 15 minutes before they started service and it only took 25 minutes to be seated. We had some delicious co*cktails in their bar while we waited. The dinner was incredible, especially knowing it was all made with local ingredients. Husk is a fantastic and unique way to experience southern cuisine and I think it’s a must-visit place while in Charleston.

Came for brunch and generally found the food to be pretty underwhelming given how much we paid for it. Country-friend pork chop was pretty good but a little on the dry side. Batter and potatoes had a nice crispiness, but I expected more for $28. The rabbit hash was even more underwhelming, a little salty and not very flavorful beyond that. The blueberry ricotta donuts were tasty. My mom ordered the sausage & egg sandwich and she said she enjoyed it. Looked like the best value since it was the cheapest and the size of a burger. If we come back maybe I’d try that next time. We did enjoy sitting outside on the deck.

This was our most anticipated restaurant of the weekend and we were not diss appointed. We arrived around 30 minutes early to our reservation and went to the restaurants bar next door. I got a whiskey sour and my wife got a mocktail, both tasty.At the restaurant, we started with the spring salad and a country ham with biscuits. The salad was refreshing and the freshest I’ve ever had, the vinaigrette was great. The biscuit platter was out of this world. The biscuits were accompanied with a mustard sauce, sweet pickles and ham, the combination of all three blew my mind, I wish I could eat it everyday. Next I got the pork chops and my wife ordered the chicken. The pork chop was crispy, tender and fatty, the best I’ve ever had. It was sitting on a bed of beans which were superb and blended very well with the pork chop. The chicken was wood fired and had a sticky glaze on the top, my wife loved it. The cornbread was good, a little salty for my taste. One of the best meals we’ve ever had, I can see why it’s so well renowned.

Beautiful location, delicious appetizers! We had the shrimp toast (I could have done 2 more of those for my entree it was that good), the tomato pie, and the cornbread. Service was great but dinner took a while to come after appetizers were cleared. we all had the GA beef plate and think they were slightly cold and dry like they’d been sitting just little too long. The potato pave was amazing and the chimchurri sauce exceptional! Unfortunately I had a few sinewy slices of beef but the others were great! Would return and try the swordfish entree. Definitely make a reservation and try it out!

Exquisite! We ordered the pork lettuce wraps to start, followed by the chicken, pork and the steak, and the corn bread as a side. We finished with the scooter pie and scoop of the coffee with duck fat caramel ice cream. Everything was absolutely amazing! Including the co*cktails. Especially loved the frame in the entry way displaying the ingredients and where they are locally sourced from. The service was lovely, too. The ambiance was cool and modern which was unexpected. All in all a great experience. Highly recommend - make a reservation far in advance :)

This was such a nice experience while in Charleston. The restaurant looks like it's in a Victorian-era home. The food was really good, especially the appetizers. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and also provided great descriptions of all the drink and food items that they had. Overall it was a great time and hope to be back.

We had an amazing dinner and service at Husk during our visit to Charleston. We had tried paying for a family member's meal during their visit as an anniversary gift and gave Husk our card to cover their dinner. They forgot to charge our card. To make it up to us they gave us reservations when we were in town and also included 2 appetizers on the house, dessert and champagne. Every dish we had tasted impeccable and the staff was very knowledgeable and helpful in selecting plates and drinks. Can't wait to go back next time we're in town!

Great overall dining experience. Reservations required with every table filled. Service and food were phenomenal. For starters, the oysters and blue crab salad stood out as table favorites. Cheese plate was also exceptional. For the main, I ordered the SC snapper, which was perfect in terms of flavor and texture. The fish had a nice crunch, and was cooked to perfection. The Husk bar next-door had a very cool vibe as we waited before our meal.

I thoroughly enjoyed eating at this restaurant! The atmosphere was quaint. The food—to die for. The service, stellar! I love the farm to table theme. It makes for an impeccable quality of food. The cornbread is a must have. The grits are creamy and delightful. For my entree I had the catfish (which I did have to add salt & pepper to) which was some of the freshest I’ve had in quite some time. For my co*cktail I had a French 75 which can be a hit or miss—it was a 10000% hit! I strongly recommend this place over and over!!!

We really enjoyed husk, the menu delivered on upscale southern charm and the food was unique. We tried a few different things based on our servers recommendations and were not disappointed. The rabbit roulade was one of the best things I have ever eaten and the beef tongue was also worth trying. We definitely will return on our next trip to Charleston.

One of our goals for this visit to Charleston was to experience a high end take on low country cuisine. We became familiar with Husk back when Sean Brock was involved in the menu. He's no longer there, but the menu is fantastic. The service was well informed and very nice. The food was as good as we could have hoped. The hot shrimp appetizer was as delicious as it was spicy. (Not for the faint of heart) The mains were full of flavor and the presentation was immaculate.

This place is still the best in Charleston. It’s better than the Nashville and Savannah locations- not that they’re bad.The food never disappoints, though they should remove some of the vodkas and get the American Tito’s. I cannot complain though.I had some Carolina gold rice fried rice side today that was outrageous.

I made reservations 2 months in advance as I have been dying to try Husk! Upon arrival, I realized I never completed the reservation. I was completely heartbroken but the Husk team was absolutely amazing!! They worked us in, were so compassionate and extremely kind!Not to mention the food was amazing! From the wine selections to the dessert, it was an amazing experience! Our server, Talmadge, did an amazing job!

Had a wonderful dinner on 7/6. We were early for our reservations and were seated without wait. The Roasted Chicken was amazing - so incredibly tender and juicy, I didn't even need the knife to cut it. The Short Ribs were also wonderful and tender. The Mississippi Mud Pie was outstanding. Luckily we shared this as it was way too much for one. The server was super friendly and helped us order the perfect entrees. The cute Victorian home was very nicely decorated and made for a great meal.

The food was impeccable as was the service. The corn bread was supposed to have bacon bits in it but we told our server we did not see or taste any. She took it off our bill. The other entrees had great combinations of flavor and texture.

Fun and tasty menu. I have esten there several times over the course of a dozen years. Great atmosphere. Good price. My only complaint, Husk recently not having the brightest person working the front desk. Our reservations were at 5:15 pm. Showed up at 5:05 pm. The restaurant is nearly empty, but there are patrons, so they are open. It is hot outside. The hostess says, "We are doing on time seating, so please wait outside."Fortunately, there was a second and brighter person working the front desk and brought some water, but only when asked.

Our experience at Husk was delightful! The peaches and tomatoes with ricotta and goat cheese were SUBLIME! This dish is worth the visit alone! The smash burger was cooked to perfection along with a side of their peppered bacon! Reservations are a must, unless you want to wait an hour. You will love Husk!

Wow, what an incredible dining experience at Husk Restaurant! The wood-fired oysters were truly divine, with a perfect char and bursting with flavor. And the Joyce Farms chicken was cooked to perfection, so tender and juicy. 5 stars without a doubt. 🍴👍

We have been to Husk twice now, and both times, it was not just a meal; it was an entire experience. The staff are incredibly personable and attentive, the food is nearly beyond description, and they work hard to make every visit feel entirely different and special. I cannot recommend Husk enough!

Everything about our dinner was phenomenal. We dined on Friday June 28 and although I can't remember her name, our server was lovely. She recommended dishes and really looked after us as first-timers to Husk. And the food...wow....12/10. We ordered every side dish plus the swordfish and peach pie with a side of the caramel miso ice cream and it was unbelievable. For someone experiencing Southern cuisine for the first time, I was in heaven! Would come back to Charleston from Canada just for this restaurant :)

One of, if not the best restaurants in Charleston. Reservations are hard to get, so make sure to book early. The restaurant is huge and elegant. All of the food we ordered was great. The old-fashioned drink I ordered was decent, probably around 7 out of 10.

This was an incredible meal! We enjoyed everything, service was great, and we had a drink in the bar before. Definitely recommend! The shrimp dumplings are a must!

Authentic Southern meal with a sophisticated and refine flavor. We love the service and environment. Delicious Devil's egg, the ribeye pork chop was excellent and the chicken was tender and perfectly seasoned ❤️

Brunch was a success! We had reservations so we were immediately seated.Staff was quick and efficient and we had our “Firsts” in a timely manner, followed by our Brunch entrees.The food was amazing and the atmosphere was conducive to the location.I will definitely be back!

Every now and then, you go to a restaurant that completely changes your perspective on food - Husk did this for me. I have eaten all over the World and never expected to encounter an American restaurant with such a profound sense of self. I could feel the centuries of foodways and traditions of the American South combining to what I can only describe as the single best Southern meal of my life. Everything was delicious and some items - like the ham biscuits - transformed my idea of what Southern American food can be. In a city of exceptional restaurants, Husk still stands out - a peg above the rest. Worth every penny!

This was the last Husk on our list, after dining at Husk in Nashville and Savannah, and unfortunately it was our least favorite. The food was tasty, we especially liked the Rabbit Pot Pie. However, the other Husks’ menus were very focused on southern cuisine that we didn’t really find as much here. The service was incredibly slow and inattentive. Also, the restaurant itself lacked the character that we found in the other two. It’s still a really good restaurant for Charleston but after visiting Husk in Nashville the bar was very high.

The service was exceptional. The food was very good. We had the delicious lamb dumplings first, followed by the Storey Farms Duck with dirty rice and Smoked Rigatoni, which my husband felt was a bit dry. This dish has no sauce, but it did have a good flavor. The duck breast was not my favorite. It didn't have a lot of flavor, but that dirty rice was amazing!We finished our meal off with cheesecake and bread pudding. Both are delicious.

A perfect Bloody Mary to go with the most heavenly, absolutely best biscuits and gravy this Texas girl has ever had! Other standouts were the fried chicken and the shrimp and grits, Toped off with attentive and well-informed service, we had a fantastic experience.

The hype is real.This place is not pretentious, and will serve a fantastic meal humbly to you.The appetizers for us were the showstoppers. We had the pimento cheese, the Nashville hot shrimp, and the lamb dumplings- personally the shrimp and pimento cheese were outstanding.For main we shared the catfish and the duck. Catfish was not fancy but was impeccably cooked with perfectly seasoned collards and grits. The duck was maybe the lowest point of the meal- but still was very good.

My first ever shrimp and grits (I'm 56) certainly did not disappoint. I wish we could have made it for dinner instead of just brunch, but it was wonderful all the same.

We’ve had Husk on our list for years. We knew when we were visiting Charleston we had to get a reservation. The food and wine were fantastic. The tuna crudo and corn bread stole the show. I had the roasted chicken and my husband had the short rib. Both were incredible.

We had a great time at FIG! The food was delicious, service was fantastic, and the vibes were pretty cool. The ricotta gnocchi was as delicious as everyone said it was, and so was everything else! They didn’t have flounder so replaced with snapper and it was one of the best fish meals I’ve had in a long time. Highly recommend!!

FIG was awesome! We went for by birthday and the food was excellent. The staff was as good or better than the food! We were given great recommendations (loved them all) and the wine list was very good. They clearly know what they are doing here which is why they have been around so long! We had to book a month out to get the date we wanted so be prepared to make reservation!

Finally went to FIG for date night last weekend and it lived up to the hype. I haven’t been able to get a reservation so we decided to go without a reservation and sit at the bar. I’m so happy we did! Ambiance, co*cktails, and service were all fabulous! The food was unique, memorable and absolutely delicious. Believe the hype! This was our first dinner on our first visit to Charleston and it was 100 percent worth the wait! We made reservations a month prior and they only had a 10:15 pm spot available. I’m glad the we decided to stick it out cause I normally don’t eat that late.Service was great and the food was fantastic! Do not skip the Ricotta Gnocchi alla Bolognese or the Chicory Salad. These 2 dishes would make a great lunch pairing. We ended up ordering 2 of the gnocchi dishes because it was that good! For my entree I chose the Sautéed Black Bass which came with a curried carrot purée, peas, asparagus and ramps. This was delicious! Never knew peas, carrots and fish would be so good together. For dessert I decided on the lime crème puffs. You get 3 generous sized puffs that taste like heaven! Not too sweet but just right to enjoy with a cup of their mint tea.Their menu changes daily and sometimes it changes in the middle of service because they source local meats and veggies. I can’t wait to come back on my next visit to enjoy more of what they have to offer.

First time we visited and from start to finish it was an amazingly experience. Moss was our server and he was friendly. A tentative, and knew the menu items well. The tomato and goat cheese appetizer was perfectly prepared and taste wonderful. Moss’s recommendation for the Liver pate was spot on WOW. The snapper and steak were both excellent entrées. Bread pudding was phenomenal. A special mention to the bartender who had never made a Singapore Sling and nailed it perfectly. We look forward to returning on our next visit to Charleston.

This place is no joke... there's a reason they are an anchor of Charleston. Incredibly delicious place. Upscale but not pretentious. Everything was delicious and perfectly prepared with balanced, well placed flavors. Absolutely the best broiled oysters I've ever had and the barrel fish was fantastic. Good service made this an unforgettable dinner.

First time here, super friendly, and knows staff. Great food!!! Great drinks!!! Beware the bathrooms are very dark! But a great place to get some great food. The music was pretty bad. I don't know who was back that at closing time picking it. A simple Frank Sinatra would've sufficed. Music adds a lot or takes away from the atmosphere.

Somehow we snagged a reservation for this place two weeks before our trip. The food was every bit as good as people told us it would be. The gnocchi was delicious, the steak was perfect and the staff was great. I definitely recommend going here for a nice birthday dinner.

It has been YEARS since my husband and I dined here and I'm so glad we returned last night for our anniversary dinner. The food is creative and delicious (you must spring for the Tagliatelle + Alba Truffles starter if it's on the menu - I dreamed of it last night and I can't wait to return because I need more!). The co*cktails are inventive (try Houdini's Martini for dessert) and Bobby, our server, was wonderful! Personable, knowledgeable and professional servers really transform a great dining experience into an exceptional one.

You just have to go! It was an incredible dining experience. Our server had been at the restaurant for several years, and it showed. Excellent service! Hands down, my favorite bite of the night, well... actually of the entire trip was the ricotta gnocchi. Good. Lord. It was the most delicious bite - a little cloud of cheesy heaven. Best gnocchi I've ever had! We tried several other dishes, and practically all of the desserts, and everything was incredible. Bravo chef! We can't wait to come back!

The menu changes nightly. That night I got the nine vegetable salad which was a perfect starter. To drink I had the summer dirty martini which was a savory co*cktail faintly like a bloody Mary but lighter and more refreshing. For my entree I got the pan seared b-liner snapper with a side of the Yukon gold potato puree. The snapper was cooked perfectly and the potato puree was silky. For dessert I got the sticky sourgum pudding which was the best dessert I have ever had. All in all a great place to eat though a bit underwhelming. I would definitely like to try other menu items to give it a more honest review as it was only my first time. The service was top notch and the server was very informative.

This was the best restaurant we experienced in Charleston. The steamed creek oysters were briney and buttery, but the gnocchi really stole the show. The gnocchi are incredibly light and fluffy with the perfect amount of lamb bolognese.

We had an early dinner around 5:30 pm since it's the only time they had for reservation.Our waitress was friendly, knowledgeable on the drinks and meal menu.The inside of the restaurant was nice and has the dim romantic light setting but not a modern styles.The appetizers were great and our dinner was good too. Their dinner portion is quite small so be ready to order different appetizers before your dinner but the food is good!

FIG is a fantastic restaurant and I always patron it when I visit. Their dishes are always tasty. Their gnudi appetizer is a favorite.The service is wonderful, their drinks tasty, and the atmosphere is very fine.

Went here to celebrate a birthday based on a recommendation and it was amazing. Our server was so attentive and nice, she apologized for the boisterous table next to us that was deafening loud. We had great conversation and she was very knowledgeable about the dishes - able to answer all our questions. Every dish was delicious and beautiful - all perfectly prepared. Definitely make a reservation, try a co*cktail, get all 3 courses because you will not be disappointed no matter what you get.

Outstanding food. Crudo was superb. The shrimp in the scampi were perfectly cooked. Popped in your mouth. Soft shell crab was solid. co*cktails were inventive and on point.

Truly one of the best dining experiences I’ve had. This restaurant lives up to the hype. The food was incredible. The service was great, from the kind hostess to wait staff, everyone was professional. I love that the menu changes daily and the chef is clearly passionate about his profession. We ordered the pumpkin soup, delicious but beware very slightly spicy. Yellowtail carpaccio was sooo good. We got the gnocchi both ways, both ah-mazing, the best gnocchi I’ve ever had! I could literally live off of this alone for the rest of my life. As entrees, we had the steak (yummy), fish (even better), and I think bourride. All very good but for me the gnocchi and sorghum pudding were the standouts. If you only go for one thing, get either of those two and you’ll be happy as a clam.

What an exquisite place! The sign at the front stated that FIG = Food Is Good. At this place? It certainly is! Our server (Dana) was very knowledgeable of the history of the dishes, and drinks that paired well with them. They do have a sommelier available to assist in selecting appropriate wines to coordinate with meals. We opted for the well-reviewed ricotta gnocchi. It definitely has earned its reputation, with its silky texture and pillow softness. The bluefin crudo was also light and a nice palate cleanser for our next course. Our mains consisted of the wagyu dish and the bouillabaisse. The wagyu was fork tender (cooked medium rare), and the bouillabaisse was bright and full of flavor. We were way too full to have dessert, but if we were to return, we would need to try the sticky sorghum pudding with walnuts and amaretto ice cream. See you next time, FIG!

We made a special trip to Charleston to dine here and it was well worth the effort. The food is delicious and the service is outstanding.We arrived at opening to get seats at the bar, otherwise, we understand that reservations can be tough to get.Order the blackened eggplant. Don't even think twice. I do not like eggplant and I could die happy on a diet of just this dish.Don't pass up the gnocchi. They are light and delicious in exactly the right amount of lamb tomato sauce.When we return to Charleston, it will be to eat in this restaurant again.

Unfortunately overrated food, but drinks and bar service is one of the best -steel skewers for old fashioned.. Made reservations well in advance and was looking forward to it, but unfortunately, even though we got there very early and managed to get a seat at the bar while we were waiting our table was not ready on time. The food was laughable. We got a lamb dish and it was sprinkles of lamb on mozzarella sticks is what it seemed like. Definitely try this place.l, but for the same upscale price point there is incredible taste and luxury in Charleston outside of FIG.go there for the drinks and sit at the bar for sure. Outside of that I can’tfully endorse.

By far the best restaurant in Charleston. If you haven't been to FIG then you haven't had good food. It's truly a life changing experience — you can tell there's passion, talent, & love into the meals.

First I want to commend the staff for their amazing customer service - we did not have a reservation and were waitlisted and after a short wait the staff made sure we were able to experience the restaurant by setting up a table for us. Not common but they went above and beyond. That being said reservations are highly recommended as the restaurant does get busy and is very popular. There is a communal table that is available without reservations but may still require a wait and you can sit at the bar (only for drinks). The staff is very knowledgeable about the menu and have good recommendations for drinks and entrees. The portions are small but the food was presented well and the flavor was great! We have a variety of non alcoholic and alcoholic drinks which were delicious and the bartender was great at understanding flavor profiles and suggesting the perfect drinks for us. @sharpandsoundstyle$$$

An amazing restaurant. I had a few wines (the glass list is really impressive), the schnitzel, and an espresso martini for dessert. Everything was perfect. The bar is first come, first serve and on a Wednesday night there were a few empty seats when I arrived at 6:30. Totally full at 8pm. Staff truly knew everything about the menu (Kristen was stellar). The owner/head chef chats with customers a few times a night and will suggest food/pairings. I could easily eat here every night of the week.

To cut to the chase; We’ve travelled to cities all over the country to eat good food, and it is no exaggeration to say that this meal was the most delicious meal we’ve ever had.A couple months before our meal here we decided on Charleston, SC for a trip because it’s a food destination, and immediately began trying to get a reservation to F.I.G. Our trip was around Thanksgiving so they were booked out, but I set up a notification system to let me know if something opened up, and thankfully a couple weeks before our trip a slot for a later dinner opened!From the moment you walk in the door you’re greeted by an exceptional front of house. There’s a tangible sense in the air that everyone is on their A-game and desiring to provide next level service. When we sat down our waiter walked us that days menu. It changes daily based on what ingredients are available, or even simply what was caught that day. Each menu is dated and signed, and when the waiter said, “we have no specials, because everything is special” he wasn’t joking. We also took the opportunity to ask the waiter for recommendations to other restaurants in town, two of which we tried and are also some of the greatest meals we’ve ever had. The food in Charleston is next level!We ordered the Lump Crab Spaghetti, Slow Baked Wreckfish, and Mustard Crusted Swordfish for our meal. We were debating on ordering the Yukon Gold Potato Puree, and with some encouragement from the waiter went for it.Overall what stood out the most was the greatest balance of Fat and Acid I ever consumed in a meal. Every single bite perfectly proportioned in flavor, texture, and creativity. This wasn’t the kind of meal that made you say “wow” after the first bite, it was the kind that made you say it after each bite, and on the way home, and the next day. Everything hit the palate just right.And the potatoes….just order them!We are still talking about this meal a month later, and it sits comfortably atop our list next to Michelin-Star Dim Sum from SF and every other life changing meal we’ve had.If you visit Charleston make sure you visit FIG, Make the reservation early, and build your expectations.

What a fantastic dinner I had at this restaurant, no wonder it's one of the culinary staples of Charleston. As many reviewers have stated, the decor is nothing to write home about, but the food and the service were top-notch.On my trip to the South I have eaten at plenty of recommended seafood restaurants, but many of them managed to overcook fish. Fig, on the other hand, managed to cook all fish and meat dishes perfectly. Oh, and those gnocchi that everyone raves about were absolutely spectacular, probably the best ones I have ever eaten.I definitely recommend dining at this restaurant, but make sure you make a reservation way ahead of time. If you drive there, a parking lot is right around the corner.

This was my first time going at it was absolutely phenomenal! The staff was wonderful and the food was outstanding! The only thing that is my usual complaint is it’s kinda dark so any pictures you take either have a lot of flash or are grainy, but I can deal with that for great food!

Came here on vacation with my grandma and we had the best time. Both of us agreed it was the best food we’ve ever eaten! The service was kind and helpful, and our server Paige gave great menu recommendations while also being an attentive waitress. The New England fish chowder was rich, creamy, and extremely flavorful. The seafood platter was all around terrific. I got the mustard crusted flounder and it was absolutely out of this world! Everything was incredible. We’ll be dreaming about The Ordinary for the rest of our lives!

Great atmosphere. We didn’t have a reservation but beat the evening rush so they were able to accommodate us. Ate at the raw bar and watched platter after platter of oysters being delivered. The person working behind the bar was quick and efficient.Our waiter was pleasant and attentive. He made sure we didn’t leave without trying their oyster sliders. Totally worth it just for the sliders!We enjoyed our appetizers and meals. It was exactly how I expected seafood near the water would taste. So glad we stumbled on it on our short walk from the hotel. Haha. My favorite was the oyster appetizer with the crackers. Yum!

Ugh. This was our third time there and it was NOT the charm. The food, as always, was incredible, but we ordered oysters pretty immediately and it took almost an HOUR for them to come which really threw off the whole pace of the meal. The oysters weren't that good as my first bite had shell pieces in it.This is such a bummer as every bite after that was truly delicious and our server was so gracious. She just should have stayed on top of the raw bar to figure out what happened with it.We will go back to give them the opportunity to reverse this one less than perfect experience at what usually is an incredible experience.

The Ordinary is my first stop for dinner each and every time I travel to Charleston for work (with the fried oyster sliders being the first thing I order each time). Probably my favorite Oyster bar in the South-Eastern US. They always meet and surpass expectations when it comes to food, drink, and friendly banter w/ the bar staff when I’m dining on my own. Great rotating co*cktail menu and an excellent selection of hard to find Rums.

We came for a dinner, after we tried booking a table for a while, and it was well worth it!The restaurant is situated in an old bank building, which brings a very special setting. The staff is very nice and attentive and we really felt taken care of.The food and the drinks were great too, especially the ceviche, and the fish cake.The house corn bread was also amazing.We finished with the the hazelnut chocolate mousse which was really delicious.Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable and provided great recommendations.Good wine and alcohol selection.

The Ordinary offers a lovely dining experience! There’s nothing ordinary about the food, service, or ambiance! It’s great for a dinner with friends or a first date. It was a bit loud but that didn’t bother me. The server was incredibly knowledgeable and did a great job describing the flesh and briny-ness of the oysters. The seafood was beyond fresh! I highly recommend this place if you visit Charleston!!

Don't even know where to start with this amazing restaurant! First of all the restaurant is amazing and looks great. We got there as soon as it opened at 5pm. The table service was immaculate, There was always someone to ask us if we needed anything or to clean off our table. Yes the menu is a little pricey but believe me, it is worth it! We got the triple seafood tower, and that had all kinds of dishes on it in which they all had their own unique flavor such has the oysters, dressed oysters, clams, shrimp, an amazing fish pâté the list goes on. Every single dish was better than the last. I even tried the caviar, which was a first for me, I was not disappointed at all! One of "the" most delicious things I've ever eaten! Also, a new dish for me I tried was the steak tartare made from good wagyu steak and the flavor was incredible! I've never had so many great dishes laid out before me. The dessert 🍨 was to die for as well, the chocolate hazelnut budino it was called. I would looove to come back again when it's a special occasion and I'm in the area. Would love to try more on their menu.

My absolute favorite restaurant in Charleston. Those old bay saltine crackers always have me coming back! I always ask for extras on the side because they're that good! The staff is very hands on at all times. Amazing atmosphere and ambiance.

Can't stress how bad this was.... Just not below average but actually bad.Basically 2 fish fingers.... One dish had mousse mustard (the vinaigrette sauce wasn't bad) and one had salad with wet creamy sauce.Both gross and considering $100+ for 2.

This is an upscale seafood restaurant. I walked into the restaurant without knowing this and I ended doing two things for the first time in my life :- dined at a bank (it used to be a bank)- paid over $25 for a bowl of gumboThe food and service were impeccable. The bank setting (high ceiling + loft mezzanine) was quite unique. Just be mentally prepared to pay premiums for these features and you will be fine.

Looking back at this year The Ordinary was a special place. It raised the bar for what a restaurant could be for me. Fresh, flavorful seafood in every single course with service that was highly attentive and comfortable. The ambiance is one youll remember too. As everyone says get the oyster sliders.

If FIG is for Friday night, then The Ordinary is for a Sunday afternoon. We got a spot at the bar as soon as they opened before we left town, and spent the next two hours or so working our way through their fish and seafood based small plates and unique drink menu. The Ordinary is impressive inside and out - huge windows, huge bar, huge flavor in both food and drink. Bartenders were kind and attentive, and service was flawless and timed well. We got bread, tuna carpaccio, smoked oysters, swordfish dip, one oyster slider, and beef tartare - all incredible. If I had to pare it down to two for a short meal, it would have to be the swordfish and the oyster service -- something about making your dish an experience of loading up a cracker. If you're staying away because you're hesitant about seafood, don't. This isn't Hyman's (absolutely no hate), this is seafood at its lightest and smallest and finest. We had a great meal for around $200 and were really glad we stopped by. If there's a seat at the bar, make sure you head on in.

Picked this restaurant from the essential restaurant list published for Charleston. At the hotel, they recommended the fried oyster sliders. They were definitely a win and we recommend them too. Raw bar oysters were delicious (but a bit pricey at $4 a piece). We debated a seafood tower, but opted for the stuffed squash (delicious), the burata (very good), and the gumbo. The gumbo was served with lump crab. I like crab, but the crab was overwhelmed by the gumbo. A house made Fresno sauce was provided with the gumbo and we applied a liberal sprinkling of the hot sauce. Let's just say the gumbo was not as good as the rest of the meal. Service was friendly and efficient. Definitely enjoyed our visit.

Sat at the bar three different days. Keith, Cody, and Dalton were outstanding in their knowledge of wine and co*cktails. They were extremely attentive and provided service that is usually only provided in a very upscale restaurant. FANTASTIC! After going there one time Keith remembered our names the second time in. This is a MUST go-to! Sit at the bar!

Came here on a Saturday night without any reservations. They were very nice and able to seat us immediately at the oyster bar. This restaurant is an old bank converted into a restaurant. Also is a james beard award winning chef.The oysters are amazing as was the clam and sourdough. The latter has the most insane flavors, I could order it again in the same sitting!Their pineapple fountain drink is also very good.Easily one of the best spots in Charleston.

Not possible to have a better meal than the one we had this evening at The Ordinary!My wife had the Softshell Crabs entree. We both decided the dish was “spectacular”.We shared a smoked Tuna Pate with toasted sesame crackers. Incredibly interesting and tasty radishes. Perfect.I had raw SC oysters on the half shell. I had never before had oysters from SC. They were plump and mouth watering! (I almost got another round as dessert).And for my entree I had the Seafood Gumbo. The roux was perfect. The gumbo was chock full of seafood.Complete with outstanding service, an awesome evening!

I've frequented bars across various cities, and they range from the OK to the remarkable. The Ordinary, however, is anything but ordinary. Their team shows professionalism and warmth, and their culinary offerings are top-notch – especially the steak and Salmon tartare. Whiskey enthusiasts will be delighted with their vast bourbon collection. The highlight for me was the cathedral-like tall ceilings, creating a majestic ambiance. It's the perfect spot to relax with a premium bourbon after a taxing day – at least that was my experience.

My husband and I ate at The Ordinary. It is a restaurant that used to be a bank. It is so beautiful. Our waitress was great, she was very kind and gave us good suggestions on what to try. We are foodies and we love to try new dishes. My husband had 6 single lady oysters. He thought they were great. Then he had Dave's clams and grilled sourdough. I had the Baltimore Style Fish Cake, delicious! We had a great evening!

What a treat!I enjoyed every dish thoroughly, and even more so the warm and knowledgeable service from Rachel & co.I happened in here by chance on my first visit to Charleston, now I’ll always be sure to visit The Ordinary on purpose.

After sunbathing to the point that my husband was a lobster, we decided we needed a place to cool off and get some grub. This wasn’t any just beach eating, this was much more!We were lucky that they could squeeze us in without a reservation. This place fills up fast and once we were seated, it all made sense. The decor wasn’t anything crazy but kept very nautical classy!The food, was top notch. I had one of THE BEST salad I’ve had in a long time. The lettuce was refreshing and crisp. While peaches on top added the right balance of sweet to the mild tang of the dressing. Lord, if I could have this shipped out to me I would. My husband got this amazing clam pizza and he didn’t have enough words to express how yummy it was. He just kept saying you would think it was an odd combo but this place mastered it. We still talk about this place and recommend it to anyone that is going to South Carolina.Book a reservation and get to the place. I have a feeling that they can’t do any wrong for the food. And please, someone send that salad to me!

Amazing!! The service, I’m sorry I can’t remember her name but she had black square shaped glasses, was fantastic!! She made us feel like we were her only table. We should have asked her to sit and eat with us!! The food was fabulous!! We had the Frites, Ricotta Gnocchi, Miss Carolina Pizza and Pecan Bourbon Crème Brûlée. 10 out of 10 I would recommend. Coming back here next year!! (We had already started eating the Gnocchi before a got a good picture🤣)

Enjoyed a nice day at the beach and an even lovelier time at OD for dinner. This place gets pretty crowded in the evenings as it's one of very few nicer restaurants on the island. The drinks and food were great as were the staff. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. Will definitely return back to the island to enjoy another meal at OD.

After months of trying to get a reservation here, my wife and I finally succeeded and it did not disappoint! Everything we ate was phenomenal. We first had the griddled octopus for an appetizer, which was excellent. I had the ricotta gnocchi and it was the best gnocchi dish I ever had! Wife had the Miss Caroline pizza and it was great as well. For locals, I would recommend getting here early or trying to go on a day/time where Sullivan’s Island is not so busy, especially during the summer. One of my top favorite restaurants in the Charleston area by far! Can’t wait to come back!

The Obstinate Daughter is a fantastic spot on Sullivan’s Island. The interior of the restaurant is gorgeous - super stylish and unique, beautiful chandeliers create a cozy, welcoming environment. This place has a great atmosphere, professional service and, most importantly, delicious food & drinks. Totally recommend!!!

We spent a month in Charleston. We drove many times over to Sullivan’s Island. It was our favorite restaurant! Frank the bartender was awesome as were all of the girls. some of our favorite dishes where the nightly fish specials, the peppers, the pizzas, the salad is awesome. we did not have a bad meal there. We really didn’t like anything else in Charleston as far as eating most seem like tourist traps and really not great quality food, unfortunately but the obstinate daughter and their sister restaurant Wild Olive were awesome.

I cannot say enough good things about The Obstinate Daughter. It’s my wife’s favorite restaurant on earth and we eat here each time are in town. Their seafood is always fresh, their wood fired pizzas are to die for, and the pastas and salads are top notch. The service is always very good and the staff is so kind. The desserts are incredible each time and are always changing! Everything is made in house and is of the highest quality. I cannot recommend eating here highly enough.

Visiting Sullivans Island for a trail walk and found this place. There is limited parking in front and the entrance is upstairs. There was a wait but not too long. When seated we were at a really small high top. We could not fit all our food. The server was nice but not helpful with suggestions. The She Crab Soup and Pizza were good. The Fritas were over rated and a little greasy. The Cheese plate wasn't really a Cheese plate at all. 1 type of cheese with jam and crackers, but it was good.

This place was mind blowing! The short rib gnocchi was a favorite of ours, but we also loved the shrimp roll, The Rutledge pizza, oysters (and accompanying sauces were soooo good), and corn chowder. Very accommodating with a baby and seating outside. Service was great. Wonderful wine selection.

Spent 4 days in downtown Charleston and made the 25 minute one way drive over TWICE to eat here. It’s that good. (Cue food coma)It’s been a while since I was really blown away by a pasta dish and the two I tried did not disappoint. Great flavor and consistency. Not your run of the mill premade pasta w a generic sauce on them. PIZZAS were top notch too! Everything appeared to be made in house and they have an open kitchen so you can watch the chefs.RESERVATIONS highly recommended unless you don’t mind waiting and/or getting walk up seating at the bar. Appeared to be a little area downstairs outside as well.Bar was great and the co*cktails were original.Atmosphere was very classy — could come here for a business meeting, lunch w the girls or a date.

Had such a great experience at The Obstinate Daughter in Sullivans Island, SC. We went there for lunch and the menu was so great, we couldn’t decide what we wanted so we tried a bunch of things. The space was beautiful. Beachy and classy. The bar looked great too. Would definitely go back for a drink or two. The service was stellar. Our server Nick was friendly and knowledgeable. He made a lot of good recommendations. The food was delicious and different. The lowcountry frites were crunchy and fluffy. The sauce that came with them was incredible. The farro salad with chicken and brussel sprouts was such a delicious dish with great flavor and texture. We also had the gnocchi with short rib ragu. The gnocchi was so light and the sauce was so complex and full of meat. We then had 3 pizzas- one was a peach Gorgonzola special. The other two were The Old Danger withpancetta, farm egg, scallion, white sauce, mozzarella, parmesan and black pepper and the Rutledge which had ricotta, Italian sausage, red onion, local greens, mozzarella & provolone picante. They all were such great combos! The crust was delicious too! My friends had co*cktails and they loved them too! We had chocolate gelato for dessert. Was probably one of the best I’ve had! So chocolately!! Such a great experience! Can’t wait to go back when I’m in town!

Loved, loved, loved this restaurant!! Went with my six sisters, my sister who planned our trip chose this restaurant based on the name. So glad she did. It was crowded and loud but such a great vibe. Our waitress was absolutely amazing! The food - to die for! The gnocchi ragu was out of this world. Everything was so delicious. We all shared so we could try different things. Pizza, shrimp, the homemade pasta with sausage and fennel (I can't recall the name of the dish), dessert. Oh my. It was all so good. Can't recommend highly enough. Be aware there are significant steps to get up to the restaurant if you have mobility issues. And it does get loud and crowded. But it's a top notch restaurant for sure.

Genuinely some of the best food I've had ever, I'm still dreaming about the beet and burrata salad, radiatore, and the chocolate cremeux dessert. Rarely are dishes so good I'm motivated enough to even try to recreate but days after the burrata salad I did just that (ofc it wasn't as good as the original). The chocolate cremeux was the dessert of my dreams: the perfect saltiness of the cookie with the creaminess of the marshmallow and chocolate was absolute heaven. I'm just sad I can't go back right away since we visited Charleston only briefly.

Went here for a girls dinner and the food & service blew us away! Ali was our server and she was incredible, always checking in on us and making sure we were taken care of. The short rib gnocchi was divine, highly recommend! We loved everything we ordered and will definitely be back!!

What a cool location! Climb up to the second floor for a cozy, vibrant experience. We were craving pizza, which coincided perfectly with their pizza-only menu as they transitioned to dinner. The Rutledge pizza was terrific. The Italian sausage provided a nice flavor, the crust was baked perfectly, the cheese pull was mouthwatering, and the flakes added a little heat. The Moultrie was also excellent. The pepperonis were large and baked perfectly. Service was excellent, and the pricing was on par for what you get—I loved the decor with it's tie to historical events. I would absolutely visit again.

Fantastic freshly shucked oysters- I could’ve just eaten those all night and been happy. Unfortunately we may have arrived too high of expectations as we thought the rest of the food was good but not great. We ordered the Farro Piccolo which we also enjoyed but would’ve loved more brussel sprouts because they were deliciously crispy and caramelized and was the star of the dish. We also ordered the Radiatore with vodka sauce and the short rib ricotta gnocchi and we thought both dishes were fine, but not particularly outstanding.Our server was fantastic and very friendly. We had our 7 year old with us and though the did not have a kids menu she was very good at making suggestions about what she might like and pointing out things they may be spicy, etc. which we very much appreciated.The restaurant is beautiful and we loved the vibe.

The food is delish and well crafted! The co*cktails were also very good! Our server at the bar was nice and attentive. The restaurant itself is decorated beautifully and has some of the nicest staff I’ve encountered! The Ricotta Gnocchi was soooo good! And the on draft co*cktail was surprisingly good! This is a great place for an upscale date!

We will return & suggest to friends!I suggest making a reservation, we did not and ended up having to sit at the bar (a Thursday). Sitting at the bar didn’t hinder our nice experience, but in the future we will plan a bit more accordingly.

The meal here was really good. We had the Ricotta Gnocchi and the Cheeky Monkey, and loved both! The wait staff was really nice as well.Our only qualm was the gelato place downstairs (owned by the same company) didn't have great hospitality, but that was after our meal.

Nick was great! Personable. The food was amazing. We did need some assistance deciphering the eclectic menu but Nick was there to help. Definitely a must when in the area. When dinner is over head downstairs for some gelato.

We stopped in mid-afternoon while riding bikes, after barely checking reviews.This place is great. The people are friendly, the drinks are cold, the pizza is amazing. There were 4 of us so we shared two pizzas as an afternoon snack.The special pizza had a butternut sauce with chorizo, two cheeses, pickled jalapeños, and scallions. Two of us were interested—the other two, not. The two who voiced skepticism even loved it!We thoroughly enjoyed the Obstinate Daughter and will return.

We love this place. In the past my husband and I have come on a date night while family stayed at our vacation rental with our kids but they are 11 and 13, so this was the second time we brought them with us. Special mock tails and delicious entrees & pizzas made it a special family night. The short rib gnocchi was everyone's favorite. I'd say this is a great spot for special occasions too. Very friendly, knowledgeable staff. Bustling space and lively atmosphere. Parking is tight, we parked at the lot behind the post office.

Went in with no reservation at 7:45pm on a Friday and we were seated before 8:30pm, I was definitely impressed based on how busy they were! We got a drink while we waited, and there’s plenty of spots on the property to hang out and wait. When we got seated, service was pretty quick and the food was AMAZING. I have no complaints. We got the obstinate flatbread which came with a butter bean purée & was delicious. My boyfriend, who doesn’t usually like gnocchi, ordered the short rib gnocchi because of reviews and he almost licked his plate clean. I got the radiatori, which I was trying not to shovel in my mouth because it was so good. Loved, will hopefully be back soon.

The pizza has a burntish and salt grit mix on the crust as opposed to semolina. Was alright, if not a bit salty overall. Poached egg on it was nice. Frogmore chowder was buttery. Max butter. Tastes creamy and nice but it certainly isn't helping the chloresterol.Acai bowl was pretty sweet. It's an entree but glad I saved it for last like a dessert. Sorbet like acai scoop over really nice strawberries and pineapple. Figure the sweetness is from the honey but maybe it's the sorbet itself.Single stall bathroom for the men's side, had a nice branded scented candle in there next to a flower arrangement.Most people seem to just park along the street one side. Parkings okay, you just have to walk farther down.

The atmosphere was excellent and welcoming. My friend and I sat at the bar, we had a lovely time chatting with the bartenders. I went with the porky peach pizza.This pizza was full of flavor, everything paired very well. The only thing I would change would be less Parmesan, I would also drizzle either hot (spicy) honey or regular honey.Definitely will come back to try other dishes.

The service was outstanding. The prices were great considering how much food you get plus the outstanding quality.The cheeky monkey pizza was good but a little too spicy for me. The fries polenta was very good and the pasta dishes were excellent. Also the Brussels sprouts farro dish was out of this world

Very nice place to eat. We came for brunch, my GF had the special Croque Madame (it changes weekly I believe) and I had the Pork Belly, 1/2 dozen Trio Oysters. All very well cook, worth every penny. I did have 4 mimosas so our total was a little under $150 for two. The experience of the staff and food was worth it!

Forgot the name of our server today, but he is absolutely fantastic. Attentive to our table and recommend great dishes. The girl upstairs that took me to our table was not as nice though, but it may be because the busy memorial weekend.

A friend dined here a few weeks ago and she would not stop raving about it so my friend and I decided to check it out while we were in town. It was a weekday and we arrived around 4:30 p.m. Parking is extremely limited but we lucked out and snagged a spot next to the tree. The reception staff was polite and courteous. Jess, our server was on the rude side---the next time we come back, because the food is pretty darn good, we're either sitting at the bar or outside. We each had a bowl of frogmore chowder---fantastic flavor with just the right amount of creaminess, spice, and a rather surprising good amount of shrimp. Two thumbs up to the chef who made this from scratch and to order. The curry, shrimp kabob was delicious. The cheeky monkey pizza was good, not great. I won't order it again. I will opt for the Rutledge or Moultrie instead. The atmosphere on the second floor was good, the AC was kicking, the bar and tables were clean, and the O/D candle in the bathroom smelled amazing. If it wasn't for our server's lousy etiquette, I would give this review a 5 star.

I loved it, haven't had authentic soul food like this in a while. For these prices I absolutely think they earned these 5 stars. My girlfriend got the crab rice and said it was her favorite dish thus far in our vacation, which says a lot since she loves crab. Definitely recommend this place if you're in the area and looking for real soul food.

This is my first time try African food. Unbelievable taste! I like how crispy the fried chicken gizzard is, the okra soup is also good. The price is really good! We came here due to a recommendation from a friend. We wanted to try a local place with soul food in Charleston. It was amazing! The people were so kind! The food was delicious. The mac and cheese was one of the best I’ve ever had- and I LOVE mac and cheese! The sweet tea was also really good. It can be a little pricey depending on what you get, but I say it is worth it. Would definitely come again.

We were greeted upon entrance and while waiting for our table we were kindly offered menus from an older gentleman. The atmosphere felt like home or being in your auntie’s house. It was warm and welcoming. The music was nice. We were seated and severed our drinks then the waitress took our food order. The food was very good! It was fresh and seasoned well. I had the crab rice with shrimp and it was amazing. We visited the restaurant with our kids and some friends and we cannot wait to return! Great restaurant and wonderful service!

We had the signature crab rice, it was amazing. One had added shrimp, another had added crab. It was amazing!!!! The fried chicken livers hit the spot! Made our day! While restaurant was full of customers & people seemed happy! Good job! Mr. Brown sent us!

My sister and I traveled to Charleston on yesterday and checked out this restaurant. When I say everything was excellent everything was cooked to order, fresh, great prices. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the food. My sister is allergic to seafood and she was good in this place. I didn't try some options due to my sister, but I will definitely be back. I recommend 10/10. So we had fried gizzards, fried liver, fried leg quarter, Mac and cheese,cabbage, yams, red rice, salmon with sausage rice with a side of Mac and cheese two tea and a slice of cake we send $60.00 for all of that. Great price!!!!! I also order fried pork chops to go.

The best soul food hands down! I've tried many in Charleston, but the food keeps me coming back here. The wings and shrimp and crab meat over rice was amazing. I can't wait to visit when the renovations are complete. I visit my grown children here every three months and you're my first stop! Thank you.

The food was phenomenal. The waitress warned us the fried chicken would take 30 minutes. But it was worth the wait. The Shrimp and Crab rice was also amazing. Our waitress was super friendly. Great experience for good food in a casual atmosphere.

My husband and I are from Singapore and we were shocked at how good the shrimp and crab meat rice was. Legitimately the best rice dish I’ve had in years. I’m usually not a big eater but I had to order another serving. Don’t miss up this place when you’re in Charleston. Simply a must!

If you want Soul Food, this is the place to go!! Gabe, our waitress, was very friendly, kind, knowledgeable, and she greeted EVERYONE with a welcome and smile! The food was fantastic...not only did I clean my plate of collards & rice, I cleaned my pork chop bone (which was fried to perfection) YUM! Rounded out my meal with a healthy chunk of cornbread, some things you just gotta have. My food was delicious, and I plan to return again....and again....and yup, you guessed it, again.

I walked in and was greeted with a great Hannibal Kitchen welcome. The waitress was very helpful and knowledgeable of the menu. The place was clean, the bathrooms were clean. Inside and outdoor seating. The food was great. Getting a chance to hear the local accent was great too. They also have a bar and serve alcohol. The decor was rich of amazing paintings.

1st time to Charleston and I Googled best southern food in Charleston... Hannibal's popped up, so we tried it. Wish Kansas was closer as we'd be here weekly! The staff was friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was homey and comfortable. Food was phenomenal, in our opinion. I had the Hannibal's Crab Rice with shrimp and cabbage as a side plus a piece of cornbread that was perfect. The husband had the Collard Green Plate, and it was over the top as well!

Hannibal's is a must visit if you're in the Charleston area. The food is very good and the history behind the restaurant makes it more intriguing. It is comfort food but with a different taste. Many well known individuals have visited and shared in the experience. The service we received was welcoming from the moment we stepped inside. The atmosphere was on par with the experience. I highly recommend stopping in for the experience and delicious food.

Dang, this was good. Off the well-worn tourist path, this is a true, local place. Highly recommend a basket of chicken livers for a starter but be warned: This was a LARGE basket of perfectly fried livers. For entrees I had rice with crab, and a side collard greens, my wife had a gravy smothered turkey leg with Mac and cheese. Are you kidding me? Let’s eat!

I went in for lunch on February 7, 2024, after conducting some research on YouTube. The restaurant had a limited number of customers, and I noticed that the service was rather slow. It appeared that the staff prioritized take-out orders over dine-in customers.For my meal, I ordered the crab rice with okra soup. The taste was enjoyable, but I was disappointed by the small portion size considering the relatively high price of $18. This experience has left me with little inclination to revisit this establishment in the future.

After a week of eating fried everything, I thought about eating a salad for lunch to finally get something not fried in my gut.But, my mama didn’t raise a quitter- Karen.My last few hours in Charleston was devoted to having soul food. Mind you I live few blocks from some of the best soul food in Harlem, but had to know if this part of the south was as good as the rumors.The best dish I had was the okra stew over rice. The pork neck bones and tails were tender & tasty, although a tad under seasoned. The okra and the sauce it came in was delicious, but the abundance of flavor I was expecting was lacking. I’ve never seen this dish at any soul food restaurant, it must be a specialty. That said- get the small for $7.The fried chicken was greasy and could have used more seasoning. It was lightly battered, moist and well cooked, though. It was definitely crispy, but could have been crispier. There was also an after taste that lingered and my guess is that was the oil used needed to be changed. This happens a lot when you fry too many other things (fish, hush puppies, shrimp, etc…) in the same oil past its optimum level. Yes, Karen…frying oil has a tipping point you shouldn’t cross.The chicken livers were fried to perfection. The bonus was it wasn’t greasy, aka- it was cooked at the higher temp necessary to avoid that outcome. Also, for an appetizer, it’s massive, it’s good for 3 or could be a meal on its own. That said- it could’ve used more salt/seasoning. Also, the intense flavor of liver didn’t leave any aftertaste, unlike the leg 1/4.I can’t believe I’m saying this about a southern restaurant that serves soul food but to me: all my dishes were under seasoned. I put hot sauce on everything, which helped alot. Still though…At the EOD, NYC soul food is just as good, maybe even better than anything I’ve now had in Texas, Florida, Virginia and now SC. Gasp. However, it’s definitely much cheaper down here. So, there’s that…The service was wonderful, which is rare back home. I forgot her name, but she was kind, sincere and very accommodating. She was one of two ladies you can tell cared about giving their best. Great vibes.Side note: the 80s & 90s R&B playing was nostalgic. Translation: I’m getting old.The time I came here, the place wasn’t very busy (past noon on a Friday). This is your warning: You will wait awhile for your food.As I was eating it got noticeably more busy, to the point a line was happening. Many left. It became clear they were understaffed, both in the front and the back of house. Do not come here unless you have 60-90 minutes to spare, more if the inside is packed and there’s a line at the door.In summation- this is the style of food I’ve had many times at childhood friends’ homes. It’s homey and comforting, not standard restaurant like. The price across the board is much cheaper than the fancy places downtown, where I was staying and this was very much out of the way for me; no regrets, I came to support a small business.

Had an amazing experience..family business. The food was completely homemade. I had the pork chop in onion gravy....it melted in my mouth...I also had the mac n cheese, cabbage and red rice. Let me tell you the sides were just as great as mine...thats tough. We will definitely be back again. I would say it's worth a drive out of the way to try it. Wait staff recommended a specialty drink and it was delicious. Please y'all you gotta try it. You won't be sorry ❤️

I heard great reviews about Hannibal's Kitchen, so I decided to give it a try. I had the fried shrimp salad, which was a basic garden salad with fried shrimp. My shrimp were seasoned and cooked well. For my entree, I had the Turkey wing with mac & cheese, rice, and collard greens. The turkey wing was very flavorful, but not a full wing only received the flat portion of the wing. That was a bit surprising compared to my other experiences of having a turkey wing dinner. Mac & Cheese was amazing. I would go back just for that. The rice and gravy was decent, I was not a fan of the collard greens. Overall, it was a solid meal, I would visit again and try other options.

This was a good place to go. I think if it had not been a busy Saturday night, it would have been better.We had three different meals, the liver and onions. I don't like liver but the person that ordered it, said it was ok.We also had the crab and shrimp rice, it was okay.Last meal was fried pork chop. It was good.The okra soup was good, mac n cheese was too.We ordered fried chicken livers for an appetizer but never got them. I didn't notice I was charged until next day. As I live in Florida and Pennsylvania, I didn't bother asking for a refund or anything.I gave it 4 stars for atmosphere and service. If it wasn't for that, I probably would give it an all around three.

We planned a day trip over to Charleston with our GBaby. We wanted to eat lunch with the locals. We found Hannibal’s kitchen on our radar. We chose to dine inside. It’s a very welcoming establishment. It’s not very big, but it has southern charm. I really loved all of the black art and the neo soul vibes. They were playing Maze (Frankie Beverly) and it was a good vibe. The waitress was not very attentive with refilling our water. It was a wait for the food to come to the table. The food was great, but the service not so much. There was even a wait for the waitress to bring our check, but she was quick to give the iPad to my husband for a tip. The service was not worthy of an 18% tip, but my husband was kind enough to still tip her. I would recommend the place for a first time experience for the food, but not the service. The Crab rice was delicious!!

This is a great place to visit if you enjoy soul food. The crab rice is great. The turkey wings were also tasty. All sides are made fresh daily. They have very reasonable prices. You can choose from indoor or outdoor seating.

A soulfull spot near the cigar factory. A welcome change from the usual offerings downtown. I had a delicious fish sandwich (portion was large, tasty and priced pretty well.) My friend ordered the chicken which he enjoyed. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a really casual, delicious spot to eat downtown. I came here for my birthday lunch yesterday, 01-23-24 after it was suggested by staff member of the International African American Museum. I ordered the grilled shrimp with onions and green peppers, macaroni and cheese, and candied yams with an Obama.The service and the food were great; the prices were reasonable. I also ordered the okra soup and cornbread to go. I sat at the bar and after hearing so many orders for the crab rice, I almost ordered some to go. Will definitely try it and the bread pudding next time. The okra soup and cornbread hit the spot once I returned home.

I visited this place on my birthday after discovering it in several articles referencing the best Charleston cuisine. Everyone was friendly, attentive and cheerful. The food was delicious and wholesome. I was so immersed in the experience that I forgot to take pictures of my food items. The place is decorated with beautiful art and you can feel the history as soon as you walk in. One of the owners named Doug was very hospitable and gracious. He even led the restaurant in wishing me a happy birthday. If you are looking to a wonderful restaurant where you will be treated like family while eating delicious food, Hannibal’s is for you.

Finally got to enjoy the Rodney Scott experience. It did not disappoint! I got the 2 Meat Platter with the pulled pork and brisket with baked beans and potato salad. Everything was SO good. The flavor of the smoked meats was great even before adding one of the three available sauces. The seasoned fries are also fantastic. Great stop for the BBQ enthusiast!

I've eaten a lot of BBQ in my days and this is definitely one of the best. We split the Pitmaster Combo so we could be sure to try everything. The chicken, whole hog and pulled pork were all great examples of their kind. All were juicy and tender but they really shined as delivery mechanisms for the great array of sauces. The vinegar, lemon, pepper zest of Rodney's Sauce in particular was a unique and delicious complement for them.But what really shined were the turkey and ribs. Long thin slices of perfect poultry with a smoky seasoning that were just too good on their own to cover up with any sauce. The ribs also had a fantastic smoky bark that was absolutely top notch. We actually priced some take home ribs and turkey because they were just so good.The mac n cheese was a perfect blend of cheesy goodness melted through noodles with a slight crunch of baked cheese across the top. The cornbread was sweet with a touch of buttery flavor that made it a great accompaniment without slipping fully into the realm of desert.Parking was easy between the rear restaurant parking lot and the large shopping center lot next door. We arrived a bit before lunch rush but service seemed to move along at a good pace during our whole meal. Plenty of indoor and outdoor eating spaces. The indoor area was clean and pleasant and the outdoor spaces had beautiful decor elements like hanging strands of light and well maintained flower planters that would make for a gorgeous evening meal.Highly recommended in all aspects and we'll be back next time we are in town!

Finally made time to stop by and was more impressed than I expected to be. I knew the food would be good, but I was also floored by how great the service was and the family oriented nature of the place. My 7 YO had plenty of options while Mom and dad got to enjoy the BBQ.The Whole Hog pork was easily the best I've ever had. While I've had a lot of good BBQ in the past, Rodney Scott's was just the most well rounded. Flavorful, moist, tender, it was a true delight to eat. Somehow i didn't leave feeling overly "heavy" which is usually a staple of big BBQ meals. Would recommend 10/10

We wanted to try out some BBQ while visiting Charleston and we're glad we came here! It's an inconspicuous location, with limited parking (you can park across the street at the grocery store) and a small interior, but the food is great and totally worth a visit. We tried the chicken and the turkey, and both were excellent. The assortment of BBQ sauces are a great complement as well. They also have a few beers on tap which was much appreciated. There was a small line of people when we arrived, but it moved quickly and we got our food pretty fast after ordering. Overall if you're a BBQ fan, you need to check this place out!

Our dinner here was a delight! Good food, fast service and cute restaurant. Order at the counter, pick a spot either indoors or out and they'll deliver to your table. It's a pretty big menu so it's a good idea to check it out before you go. The combo platters seemed like a very reasonable deal and good sized portions. Though they ran out of brisket (we were there late on a Saturday night), the wings were excellent. Nice a crispy outside, juicy on the inside.

This was definitely the best Carolina BBQ I’ve had in a long time. We ordered spare ribs, pulled pork, brisket, and wings. The smoke and flavor of the meats was perfect. Not only was the BBQ delicious, the sides were also good. The hush puppies and mac-n-cheese were our favorites. The hush puppies were crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy in the middle and the Mac and cheese was creamy perfection. Don’t forget to order the banana pudding cause it is out of this world!

There is something that puzzles me about Rodney Scott's BBQ in Charleston. Why is a disco ball hanging in the dining room? Maybe I should have asked an employee, but I didn't. Other than the disco ball, everything at Rodney Scott's made sense. The dining area is comfortable and casual. It was nearly full when we dined there on a Sunday mid-afternoon, and some people had ventured outside to dine on the outside tables. It was a very warm summer day, so I was impressed that the picnic-style outdoor tables had fans to help keep the diners comfortable. Very nice! Our party split the Pitmaster Combo, which includes a variety of smoked meats and four sides. Everything was delicious, though the brisket was a touch on the dry side. The chicken and turkey, however, were moist and flavorful and the pulled pork was lean. We especially enjoyed the flavorful sausage that came with the combo. For sides, we got mac and cheese, collard greens, fries, and baked beans. All were very good. The flavor of the collard greens and baked beans complimented the smoked meats nicely, and the seasoning on the crispy fries was really good. All in all, Rodney Scott's BBQ is an excellent choice for some southern barbecue! But what's up with that disco ball?

Whole hog pork plate was a melange of tastes in my mouth. The mac and cheese was very good and hearty and the greens were great also. Really enjoyed the differing sauces as i used each liberally throughout the meal. Great barn and service with a smile too. They really want you to enjoy your experience. I thoroughly enjoyed my first visit at Rodney Scott’s. The food was very fresh and flavorful. The ribs and chicken were tender and were seasoned well. There were a few sauces to choose one according to your preference. The sauces were nicely done as well. (I’m a northern girl, so I prefer a sauce that’s a bit thicker.). The greens and baked beans are also seasoned well and were a good portion.I also tried the catfish since I was leaving the area and had that for lunch the next day. It was seasoned well and cooked to perfection.Overall, I enjoyed my visit and am looking forward to going back when I’m back in the area.

What a great experience! The human who greeted us took excellent care of us! We did a three meat combo with Smoked Turkey Breast, Wings and Spare Ribs. For sides we tried the hush puppies and cole slaw!! Everything was great but my favorite was the Hush Puppies and Smoked Turkey!!! 10/10 would recommend!!

I visited Rodney Scott’s BBQ after spending a day in downtown Charleston. I wanted to stop in after watching a YouTube video where Rodney Scott was featured. When we arrived, we were able to find parking. The parking lot is rather small, but it was empty due to the time of day that we went. The overall look of the restaurant was cute. There was plenty of outdoor seating, but it was raining so we opted to sit indoors. Once inside, my party of four found a table and we looked over menus. You must place your order at the register, then you are given a number to place in the holder on your table and a cup for your beverages. You must get your drinks from the soda/juice fountain yourself.We had been seated for less than three minutes, when the server walked up to us with our food. We ordered the Pitmaster Combo which included whole hog, pork shoulder, chicken, turkey, ribs and brisket. It also came with four classic sides which were potato salad, baked beans, collard greens and mac & cheese. Every bit of the barbecue that we ordered was cooked to perfection. The ribs were large and meaty. The smoked chicken and turkey were juicy. The brisket melted in your mouth. The collard greens were good. They had so much flavor and cooked perfectly. The mac & cheese was good and baked just like I like it. However, I felt it did lack a little sharpness in the cheese selection. The baked beans were amazing. They were cooked perfectly and provided a good balance of savory/sweet. The potato salad was good, but it had a crunch to it that I didn’t care for.The price that we paid for our meal was perfect for what we received. We still had food leftover to enjoy at home. It was a plus on our trip to the Charleston area. We’ll definitely stop in if we are in the area in the future.

The best BBQ in the world is the one you have in your backyard with friends and family. The second best BBQ I've had is at Rodney Scott's. If you're in Charleston, do yourself a favor and do not miss this world-class barbecue experience. The staff was very friendly, the restaurant was clean and well maintained, and the food was phenomenal! I loved the whole hog pulled pork with Rodney's Sauce, the ribs were tender and meaty, and the brisket was smoked to perfection. My son and I shared a platter, and he was especially loving the collards and mac & cheese. I'm a tough rater on Google, but this spot gets a well-deserved 5 stars all around.

Everyone in my party of 6 seemed to enjoy their food except for my husband and me. The collards were too spicy, the catfish was under-seasoned as well as the hush puppies. My son and I debated about the macaroni and cheese. He liked it. I found it to be lacking cheese and the macaroni was chewy and firm. But the banana pudding was absolutely delicious.

This is My first restaurant during My first time in Charleston. The restaurant was clean, the bathroom was clean. The cashier was very helpful because I had a hard time making choices. I had the three-meat combo with Ribs, Turkey, and pulled pork with greens and mac and cheese. Those greens were everything. The sauce options were very unique. The food came out quick and hot. They have indoor and outdoor seating.

Being a Texan I have had the pleasure to visit some incredible BBQ spots, as well as all the other major BBQ cities in the country. So naturally Rodney Scott’s was on the list when we visited SC. I’ve watched videos about this restaurant on Netflix, YouTube, and most every BBQ publication around, with everyone talking up the whole hog BBQ! Coming from TX brisket is king, so coming somewhere that specializes in pork was a change of pace.The pork itself was incredible, it had the flavor profile and perfect amount of moisture. Easily the best pork sandwich I have ever had!The BBQ sauces were excellent as well!

A must eat in Charleston! Brisket was just about melt in your mouth tender! Super delicious! A heaping serving of ribs and outstanding flavor of the whole hog tied together our plate. A decent amount of indoor seating but they have many outdoor tables as well! Had to come back a second time because my first visit here the brisket was sold out! I was on Vacation with my family and had seen the Chefs BBQ show on Netflix about Rodney Scott's BBQ. It was a great show that I wanted to go enjoy his BBQ and see his place. I enjoyed the story of how he came about in his success. Me and my family were not disappointed. The atmosphere was great and the staff was doing a good job keeping things going. We came from Oklahoma and spent the day in Charleston but this was one my want to go spots on our trip. The food was really good and was a good experience to share with my family to always remember. Keep it going Rodney. Great job sir.

Rodney Scott's BBQ offers a unique atmosphere, complete with a distinctive disco ball on the ceiling, excellent service, and delicious food. They've done a great job, but given the recent renovations in the neighborhood, it might be worth adding a plant-based option. Roasted, grilled, or smoked jackfruit with your BBQ sauce would be fantastic!

As a little girl who spent most of her summers in a little small town northeast of Hemingway, SC (the original Scott's BBQ) your family's BBQ was all I remembered. I am beyond happy to see you continue your family's legacy.With that being said, this location is not quite in the hustle and bustle of downtown Charleston, but close enough. Upon entering this establishment, you placed your order up front first, take a number and have a sit either inside or outside. Though rather small, my husband and I did opt for sitting inside due to this particular day being a bit chilly. I like the vibe and the choice of music. It remembered me of being at family BBQ. We got two plates. Pulled pork shoulder and beef brisket. Our sides were potato salad, Mac and cheese and hush puppies. These plates do come with cornbread. We thoroughly enjoyed everything. My only suggestion would be to remove ( or rename) the Diddy turkey club from the menu, for obvious reasons 🫤.The price is reasonable and the food is good. But you may have a hard time finding parking just like the rest of Charleston. If you're ever off King Street and hungry, go ahead and stop by. They even have a drive-thru. We will be back!

Drive though service was great, everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. Drummies were tender and tasty, we got the brisket sandwich lean by request and it was super tasty. Coleslaw was next level.Reasonable price.

Yes the collards were very good. Typical baked potato, Mac was ok, the ribs had good flavor and sweet cornbread. The whole hog was cooked well but tried to do to much with the flavor as this took away from the smoked flavor. I’m a big vinegar sauce guy and I will say that was some of the better sauce I’ve had. Definitely had a chain restaurant vibe to it. But overall not a bad place to grab a bite to eat.

Hands down the best overall BBQ experience I've EVER had. While attempting to sneak a peak into the pit area, I was caught, then invited inside to see the full operation. The lady that invited me in was so kind, she had no idea how much it meant to me to see things from the inside. I've watched nearly every YT video of Rodney Scott. I'm a huge supporter and had hoped to meet him during my visit. I was so taken back, that I decide to visit again the next day with hopes of filming a full vlog for my YouTube channel. I was able to capture a detailed look inside and met some incredible people while doing so. I am forever grateful for the staff members at Rodney Scott's for the warm welcome a regular ol Joe like myself received. It was truly a blessing... the experience was then capped off by some of the best BBQ that I've had in my life (I'm a little biased at this point). Ribs were amazing, baked beans were amazing, mac and cheese really good. On my second visit I let the cashier order for me - she suggested that I try the smoke turkey club. At first I was a little hesitant but I tried it and man... the best!! Thank you Rodney Scott and staff, you guys made my experience truly unforgettable.

We bought into the hype and visited Rodney Scott’s BBQ in Charleston. This was actually the reason we stopped and stayed in SC overnight on our way to Florida was so we could come here for dinner.You never know when a place or a name starts to get a lot of stardom and attention and begins to expand, how the quality of food will translate and keep up. But we were very happy with our experience. We got the family feast platter, and was very happy with the quality and quantity of the food for the price. It fed our family of 4 no problem and we had extras to take home.We of course came for the pork, which did not disappoint. The pulled pork as well as the ribs and sausage were great! Didn’t even need sauce but we used some anyways to try his flavours. The brisket was okay, but you don’t come here for the brisket. The sides were also good, we especially liked the hush puppies and the kids really enjoyed the Mac and cheese and seasoned fries.The setting and vibe was really great inside the restaurant. No issues getting seating and the staff were very friendly.We would definitely come here again, just wish they had some merchandise to purchase on the store we definitely would have bought some.

The service was good and we were given recommendations. We decided to get the pit master. The food was average and slightly underwhelming, but we still enjoyed some of it. The ribs weren't very good as they were dry. However, the brisket was very good and tender.

My wife and I decided to visit this place based on Google reviews during our trip to Charleston this past weekend. Coming from North Carolina, we have high standards for BBQ... However, I'm pleased to say that South Carolina didn't disappoint! I got the whole hog pulled pork and brisket combo with fries and Mac and cheese. My wife got the brisket chili and we had some dry rub wings to share. Our favorite was definitely the chili and cornbread! Honestly, it's probably the best tasting chili I've ever had! We debated coming back the next day to get some more! The cornbread was buttery and had the perfect amount of sweetness to it. The wings were plump, juicy and full of flavor! The mac and cheese was delicious, and didn't last long on my plate! The fries were well seasoned, and left me with no complaints.Personally, the brisket was my least favorite part of the meal. While it wasn't bad, I thought that it was just mediocre at best. The pork however, was really good!! Overall, this place was great, and we will definitely be back the next time we are in town!

Delicious! We were so happily surprised at how delicious the food was! The brisket chili was tasty, and the 3 meat plates with whole hog, cheddar sausage, brisket, baked beans, Mac & Cheese, and cornbread was amazing. Out of the whole plate, I would say the baked beans were my least favorite, but paired it with the sausage, and it took up a notch. My wife had the pork should sandwich and love it as well, and her onion rings.We arrived around 6:30 p.m., and they were already out of hush puppies and cornbread as a side, so get their early!We will absolutely be coming back. I have brought many tourists to this establishment. I've heard lots of great reviews from my colleagues . I've finally embraced the time to have dinner with colleagues while on site for work. Everything was fresh. Flavorful & Filling. Yes , I cleared my plate. The line grew swiftly & Service was on top of it. Inside & Outside dinning is Available.

I got the whole hog plate with fries & coleslaw. It was a much bigger portion than I anticipated but it tasted amazing! I especially loved the corn bread. Super buttery and not dry at all.I loved all the sauces that were on the table, but my favorite was Rodney’s Sauce. It paired with the whole hog very well.I came on a Monday night and it was fairly busy. All the seats were taken and people waiting around as well.

Many dishes tend to be appetizer sized, delivery is as prepared, so order with the idea of sharing. If you are hungry, order accordingly, even for the large plates.The review: Our dining selections were grilled oysters with crab fat curry and cashews. Grilled grouper with tomato butter, zucchini, and trout roe. Bone marrow with shrimp tempura and spicy mayo. Presentation of each selection was excellent. Each selection tingled our taste buds, we were quite satisfied with our dining choices.Pictured is the menu this evening, I forgot to take a picture of the oysters, dug into the grouper immediately when it arrived, and had the presence of mind to take a picture of the bone marrow prior to digging in.Back in Charleston any time in the future? Great experience. Would definitely go back. Food was excellent but not for everyone. I enjoyed five out of the six items we ordered. The fried oyster roll was to die for. The only thing I would ask management to do is turn down the music. It is a detractor from the great venue. Extremely difficult to have a conversation.

First time trying out Chubby Fish and to our surprise it was amazing. We enjoyed the comfy environment and the hospitality of the restaurant. The food was amazing, definitely worth trying if you’re into seafood. Although the portions are small and a bit on the pricey side the taste and flavor was worth it. If you like trying out small tapas style/sharing dishes this is the place to try out.

Wow! Best meal we have had since our time in Seattle. The vibe is super cool. Listen to the staff! They know each dish in and out and can recommend the best. The menu changes with what’s in season and fresh. We were lucky to have the cobia tataki which was out of this world! The whole fishes looked incredible. Everything that comes out of the kitchen is special. Don’t miss this gem of South Carolina and beyond.

The best meal I’ve had in Charleston. Worth the wait. Highly recommend the caviar Sammich as well as the blue crab tagliatelle-though it all was amazing. Get here early (as close as possible to 5 when it opens) so you can put your name down and not have to wait too long.

Honestly, haven’t had a dinner like this in a long time. Visiting from NY just taste Charleston. Seen this place on YouTube somewhere, and multiple locals raved about it. My experience far exceeded my expectations. Kate, our server was awesome. Sat at the bar, and chef was dope too! Got to watch everything be cooked, and enjoyed 3 different types of oysters. Now Let’s talk about the bread—phenomenal, like I’d buy that and take it back to NY. The Royal red shrimp was A1. Shrimp was cooked perfectly, and the sauce was delicious. Even if you’re not into sweets, you must try the Fried chicken ice cream! (Honorable mention to the China, cutlery, and the Bathroom! Man it smelled great in there. I’ve never said that about a restaurant) chubbies is the ish. 10/10 highly recommend.

This place is amazing and well worth the wait. I thought I loved 167, I love Chubby more. Caviar Sammich is the best bite in town. Tuna toast was amazing. Can’t wait to return. One of the best meals ever.

Food was delicious and tasted very fresh. I ordered bluecrab tagliatelle under “large plate” and the celery salad. The waitress suggested one large plate for two people, and we went with that suggestion. However the large plate was pretty small for two people. Which is my only reason for four stars instead of five… prices are high and portions are small.

Went 6:30pm on a Wednesday and waited about 1.5 hours for a table of 2 (cute wine bars close by to pass the time). Every bite we had was amazing. We also got to sit at the chef’s counter which was cool and could see lots of other delicious-looking dishes we didn’t order being prepped

Finally tried the renowned Chubby Fish, and while you do have to time your visit just right (small space with no reservations), it truly is worth the wait. Predominantly seafood focused with various selections from raw bar, small plates, and larger entrees, each dish has an inventive approach and nothing really disappoints. Beer and wine only and a frequently updated menu. Bright atmosphere and large community table. Would definitely recommend if you want to try something new and atypical of traditional downtown dining.

They kept the crowd moving and grooving. Finely tuned restaurant without any hiccups. They were able to sit my wife and I down in a timely manner, gave us ample time and dish recommendations. Each dish had there unique flavors that did not disappoint. If I had to recommend the a dish it would be the triple tail for this season.

By far the best restaurant in Charleston, if not the country. I travel all over the world three weeks out of the year and this spot is easily my number one restaurant EVER! The food is consistently delicious, the staff are top-notch ALWAYS making sure your glasses are full and you're properly educated on the menu. The place is always packed. If you're not there AT LEAST 30 minutes prior to the doors opening, you've just shot yourself in the foot. A few of my personal faves - caviar sandwich, beef tartare, chili garlic shrimp. But don't miss out on the celery salad if it's still on the menu; Chef James is so dang creative that he only uses what's local and in season. My best advice: grab 3 of your friends (at least) and order one of everything. It all comes out as it's ready and served family style so just dig in. You won't regret it.

We stopped in for Valentine’s Day. The host made sure to set realistic expectations for our wait allowing us to lallygag around downtown before dinner. Once it was time for dinner we had the best server, they provided wonderful recommendations and our food came out at the perfect time from start to finish. Everything was incredibly fresh and delicious. We were seated right near the door and it was a little cramped but the food had me in a trance so it was easy to ignore.

Absolutely the best food I have had in Charleston! Each plate was like a work of art. And the dessert (pic shown) of fried chicken was insane. A chocolate covered pretzel with ice cream and waffle cone flakes that make it look exactly like a fried chicken drumstick.

Truly a delightful charming small restaurant. The hardest part of going to this restaurant is trying to decide what to eat because I've heard that the menu change often depending on what in season and that almost everything on the menu is can't miss. We had the following: wagyu feed tartare (def will order this again), some raw oysters, cauliflower cacio e pepe, grilled oysters (delicious), charred lamb ribs, chili garlic shrimp, blue crab pasta, and chicken drumstick ice cream (classic).Next time, I would love to try more of their raw dishes and small plates.

What an absolutely incredible meal!When we got to Charleston we knew we would be eating at Leon’s and FIG, but had decided on what we would eat our final night. While at FIG we asked our waiter what we absolutely had to have in town and he told us to go to Chubby Fish and get there before 4:30 to line up for a spot.The next day a little after 4:00 we pulled into the neighborhood where it’s located and found street parking. I was surprised to find that we were about 5th in line at that point. If you haven’t heard already, I would definitely recommend the advice of arriving around 4:30.When 5:00 rolled around we were seated inside at the bar next to the Line. The waitstaff and entire front of house were incredibly friendly, passionate, and played into the ambiance of the restaurant.The best way I can describe the environment of Chubby Fish would be if you smashed together all of the charm of your local neighborhood corner bar restaurant with the insane attention to detail of a Michelin star restaurant. I’ve never experienced such beautiful combination of warmth and excellence.We started off with Triggerfish Tempura that came with a Soy Beurre Blanc. The fish tasted so fresh and played so nicely into the delicate tempura. The Soy Beurre Blanc was mouthwatering. An absolute perfect balance of acid and fat.Next we had the Grilled Oysters with crab fat curry and cashews on top. With where we were situated at the bar we watched them prepare this dish in front of us which was a fun experience. The crab fat curry on top was so good, and the oysters themselves were incredible.The Chili Garlic Shrimp was our next dish, which was served over an aromatic rice. The flavor profile and spice level was just right!Finally we had the Blue Crab Tagliatelle which was drool worthy. The pasta was just right and the crab hit at just the right level.This was one of the best meals of my life! It was apparent at every moment of my experience here that everyone at Chubby Fish deeply cared about what they were creating there. If you are someone on the fence about going here or somewhere else, pick here!

My friends visited this placed about 2 years ago during a visit to Charleston and they got impressed with their brisket, so I gave them a chance and wanted to try it myself. They were not wrong, the brisket and the pulled pork were awesome and tasty. Good selections for sides as well. The place is spacious for sitting, just be patient and ready to wait an hour or more on the line. Not too many parking slots, very limited. Staff sometimes not too efficient, people waiting on the line and they were talking and talking and not taking orders. The experience was good overall, the best BBQ I've ever had without doubt. Definitely a place you have to visit for a good BBQ experience.

Southern BBQ joint, pretty classic as you go up and order the meats you want, then head to the sides, and grab your drinks. They have bar for more than just canned beer, lots of seating inside and out, and a back smokehouse that is constantly busy. The moist brisket here is excellent although heavy and rich even with the bread, I would recommend getting around a quarter pound of that per person. The dry brisket that they give you If you don't specify is also good but a single slice does more than enough to help balance the rich moist brisket. Free onions, red onions and pickles that are spicy, and plenty of barbecue sauce in large tubs that run freely as coffee containers allow. The fries are an interesting large cut, and the pulled pork isn't bad. Spicy sausage didn't suit me but other people like it. The special of the day was pastrami but that sandwich had sold out by 11:00 a.m... interesting to see what their prime rib special yesterday would have been, sad I missed that.

We did a whole barbecue platter, and it was absolutely delicious. From the tender meats to the delicious sides. There were a lot of options to choose from.Typical Texas style line, where you are staying in line and get up to the butcher and he cuts the meats in front of you. Staff was super friendly.Highly recommend you go if you’re in Charleston and take a plate home with you!

WOW. if you are a bbq lover, this is your place. The best bbq we've experienced in a fun atmosphere. We went at peak time, so unfortunately the line was long. But the owner checked in frequently, the drink trailer served incredible margaritas and the line moved quickly.The beef brisket is probably the best we've tasted, with choices on the "lean level" we choose lean, and it was plenty moist.Or eyes were bigger than our stomach, but no worries - leftovers are always great!You have got to give Lewis a try if you are in the area. It will not disappoint!

Some of the best BBQ we've ever had. The sliced brisket was amazing. Everything was on point. Service was incredibly nice and attentive. Great inside area with comfy bar stools with backs (huge plus!), large shaded patio with picnic tables and Adirondack chairs! Definitely the best BBQ and some of the best food in general we had while in Charleston. A must go for sure.

I'm from out of town and asked a local I work with where to get BBQ in Charleston. I am glad he directed me here, all the food looked so good. I ended up with the brisket sandwich and mac and cheese. Both were great. Brisket had a great smokey flavor. Staff was super friendly and service was quick. I will definitely come back next time I'm in town. I even bought a shirt to mark the occasion.

I'm not a person who loves bbq or feels like I've gotta eat a lot of meat. Except when it comes to Lewis Barbecue. I think about this place all year long, and then MUST eat here on our annual trip. I love that you just decide how much you want and they put it all on one tray, so fun for eating with a group or just yourself. Everything is top notch, cooked perfectly, tastes amazing. Very fun atmosphere.

This place is probably my favorite BBQ spot I’ve been to in a long time. First time buyer and everything was just great. The servers were awesome and nice, the meat was super tasty. I especially liked the pulled pork. I can easily say that was my favorite part of the whole meal. I decided to try a little bit of everything and was not disappointed. I will definitely be back!

Wow! Not your same old BBQ for us. Loved the corn pudding, was a little nervous to try since it contained jalapeños (I'm not a spicy person), but this was just right.The french fries were so tasty.The BBQ flavor was so different from what we get where we live. Spacious inside dining and a lovely shaded outside dining. Will definitely visit again if we come back to Charleston.

This was our second visit, and it didn’t disappoint. The first thing you notice is the friendliness of the staff, that really stood out. We had a large party so I think we covered everything on the menu. It was all delicious. Of course the brisket was next level, but the pulled pork and the sausage also fantastic. All the sides were great, especially the collards. Make sure you get the pickles and pickled onions. I can’t wait to get back.

The outdoor seating is on gravel so wheelchair access will require some energy.The bathrooms have been consistently clean on my more than 10 visits.Not a beer drinker but it's served here and it seems like people enjoy it. Fountain drinks are also available.There's limited parking in the restaurant parking lot but there's additional parking a very short walk away from the restaurant.Timing matters here, call to get a feel for how long a wait you might have. 😉

Fun atmosphere and fantastic food = a total winner for a first timer to Lewis Barbecue! The service was straight forward and they explained everything very well. The food was absolutely delicious and we are planning another visit soon. If you like Barbecue I would highly recommend stopping in and trying all of the offerings. Atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired. Good fans to move the air but no real cooling and in the South Carolina summer heat it makes eating out uncomfortable. Went for the amazing beef and cheddar special on Fridays. Had some brisket as well, which was the best brisket I've ever tasted. Mac and cheese was on point. Collards were well cooked and seasoned. Loved everything we ate!

Lewis BBQ is one of the best BBQ places in Charleston, South Carolina! It’s Texas inspired bbq! We ordered the brisket (sliced), pulled pork, ribs, and the day we went they had a special of a giant rib! I highly recommend all 4! Service here was incredible, everyone was super friendly, explained to you how to order (you can customize how much meat you want), and we got the food fast! Their sweet tea is FIRE! The Mac & cheese was delicious! Banana pudding is my favorite dessert and I LOVED the overall experience! Highly recommend! 10/10 would recommend!

First, the staff went above and beyond all expectations. They were kind and helpful in anyway they could and unexpected ways.The lady behind the counter handed me a sample of meat to try and it was amazing.I grabbed the brisket sandwich with fries and Mac n cheese. We had such a great experience at Lewis, Barbecue in Charleston, SC. They open at 11AM and we got there a few minutes later and only had to wait about 20 minutes. The line was super quick and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. They had so many good things, we didn’t even know what to order. We end up getting almost everything. We got brisket, half fat, half lean. We got one each of the sausages that we’re both out of this universe. We also got mac & cheese, potato salad, the corn pudding, coleslaw and the beans. Everything was so delicious and well prepared and seasoned. The special was the chicken fried steak and we all shared that and it was also mouthwatering. It was cooked perfectly and had the best sauce. It came with mashed potatoes and two sides. They also had a really great bar with specialty drinks that were well priced. They also had a great beer selection as well. Cannot wait to go back and have it again!!

We really enjoyed Lewis Barbecue! Nine of us are having a cousins reunion in Charleston. We came from Austin, San Antonio and Plano, TX as well as Atlanta. We really enjoyed the food. You must try the corn pudding!

The best Brisket in Charleston. Maybe the best I've ever eaten. Had to stand in line for a while but this was expected when you're eating out on a Saturday. I highly recommend this place. Oh and you pay the meat per pound. At the time I was there the brisket was $30/lb.

#2 best bbq I've ever had. #1 on the east coast. The green hatch Chile sauce was amazing and very unique. The brisket was moist and delicious. Everything was fresh and tasted great.

This is absolutely next level barbecue. You HAVE to order the sliced beef brisket. It is unbelievable. Get it with all the free fixings (white bread and pickles). It's fantastic! So moist, tender, light smokiness, great charred bark on the outside. Just all around wonderful.The atmosphere inside is fantastic too. Really beautiful space with plenty of different seating options indoors, outdoors and by the bar.All the sides are desserts are amazing too. The banana pudding, mac and cheese, and Cole slaw are the stars ⭐⭐⭐

Easily the best bbq I’ve ever had and the sandwich is def a top 5 all time (and this is compared to hundreds of sandwiches from across the world). This place is top notch.Definitely worth a visit on Friday for the beef and cheddar. It was other-worldly. It’s worth visiting Charleston specifically for the sandwich. Absolutely wild. This was a suggestion from the nicest random stranger that we met while we were visiting Charleston. One of the best bbq we ever had. The wait time was a little long but so worth it. You have a bar where you can order drinks while waiting (pretty entertaining and a good way to be patient). The staff were helpful and super nice! Truly a gem!

Outstanding food and service in this casual no frills BBQ restaurant. Easily the best sliced brisket I've ever eaten. I've been around Texas the Carolinas, to Memphis and Nashville. Nothing compares. The turkey and pork were also great, along with the tangy potato salad side we had. Service is fun and on point. They have beers on tap or cans for the wait in line or with your meal. First time we went the line was short, second time was on a Saturday afternoon after graduation time it was through the entire restaurant and well out the back door. We waited lol.

Very cool space. Designed very tastefully and in a modern way around the theme from the parking lot all the way through to the bathrooms. The outdoor area was under a cloud of smoke by the time we left and I was glad we dined indoors. Oh and the food! The ordering experience at Lewis is unique, but there is signage throughout to direct you on how to order and when to take a seat. We arrived at 11:15 on a Thursday and were able to order and eat in under an hour. The line was minimal when we arrived and moved very quickly.Brisket is very close to the best I’ve ever had. The green chile corn pudding is also a must (menu says for flavor, not heat; but I would say there is a little heat. Would not recommend for a child). Can’t speak to the mac and cheese or the slaw, but the potato salad ranks higher than most.

It is an art to take great ingredients and elevate them even higher. Some food need beautiful garnishes and delicate platting to dress them up. Some others do not; raw beauty. That's what you will find at Lewis.There is something highly titillating when the fragances of BBQ'd and smoked meats tingles your nose.There is something pleasing to the eyes and palate when the sight and taste of meats make your mouth watery.Yet, it is something else when your ears twitch and almost blush because you hear the inner sound and micro vibration of the perfect bark being chewed on. Real BBQ lovers know what I am talking about. You live for the perfect bark and the perfect meat.Lewis is no fluff, no bells, no whistles. Just food. This place is very impressive from service to ambiance to food quality. We were greeted by one of the managers who was amazing and started explain in the whole process to us super friendly. Then we ordered drinks while we wait in line it was around 30 minutes line but not bad as they have a bar where you can easily order while you wait until you arrive at the counter. Ordered a lot of meats and sides by the pound and boy it did not disappoint!! Cherry in the cake they took us to the smoker room for a private tout where they explained the whole smoking process to us that was absolutely fantastic!!

This was the best food I had while in my 2 weeks in Charleston. I would definitely come back. Expect to be in line to get your food upon arrival. You have to get in line for drinks and then in another line for food. It would be better if they had servers to work the tables. The line wait time was about ten minutes each. The flavors were excellent.

Since arriving in Charleston we have been recommended this spot for dinner by so many people and it didn’t disappoint.The brisket was melt in the mouth and the turkey was soft and tender. The mac and cheese was also the best I have ever had.Well worth a visit and definitely not over hyped

The restaurant was tucked in a nook. The neighborhood looked like it was on the cusp of gentrification. You could smell the smoker from outside, which builds your appetite. You have to go all the way to the right of the establishment by the take out trailer. The Line was long so I knew the food was going to be good. If you’re with a group and drink alcohol (which I don’t) you can grab drinks as you wait on-line. The slicer/employee that took my order was nothing short of superb. He asked the type of cut of brisket I wanted and even gave tiny samples which was greatly appreciated in the decision making process. The parking was a bit tough but if you are patient you can catch a great spot once someone leaves- on the street that is….the “tangy” sauce was a bit vinegary but the original was spot on. The potato salad was solid but could have used a dash of more sugar. Ample outdoor seating, Overall I give this place a B+ to an A. Wayyy better than Melvin’s BBQ. I was not endorsed to make this review.

I visit Lewis Barbecue every time I visit SC. We don't have BBQ like this in MD. I've Never had a bad meal here. The Chicken Fried Steak (the Sunday Special) is my favorite, that Green Chile gravy is so good. I've enjoyed the Ribs, the pulled and chopped beef, the hot guts. Well worth the drive from my second residence in Beaufort. The only thing they need is a spicy BBQ sauce.5 ⭐

Thought I’d died and gone to bbq heaven. This place is the best bbq joint we have been to. Not only was the food amazing but it was a fun place to eat and enjoy the night. The food was well cooked, melt in your mouth, fresh, tasty, served nicely and just awesome. We went a little lighter on the protein and went one of every side with a large mac and cheese. They were all great. Ribs, brisket and sausage so good. Staff friendly, attentive and welcoming. There was a line when we got there but had a beer and was served in no time at all. I you get a chance don’t miss out on going to Lewis Barbecue Charleston.

Lunch at Lewis BBQ was yummy and very filling. I recommend the brisket, and green chili corn pudding. They have cafeteria style ordering, so when you walk in, walk past the bar area to get to the line to order at the counter. Meat slicers will answer questions and help you choose a meat, then another staff member will get your sides. Order drinks and desserts at the register.

They were pretty busy when we went about 6p and they were busy the whole time we were there. Service was so friendly. Portions were very generous. Food was delicious! We had sliced brisket sandwiches and chopped brisket, corn bread casserole, Mac n cheese and fries. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Highly recommend.

Best BBQ I've ever had, absolutely worth the 6 hour drive. You do have to wait in line for a while, but there is no waiting for food once you order. You just get your food and sit wherever you want. The prices are very reasonable for how amazing the food is. They get so much business that everything is guaranteed to be fresh. The tallow fries are outstanding.

The first time we went to Charleston we were told Lewis’ BBQ was highly recommended and loved by the locals. The next time we returned to Charleston, revisiting for dinner was a priority. It’s so good!As an Australian this was the perfect introduction to southern USA bbq. The first time we went we tried a bit of everything. The brisket is amazing. Everyone at the table loved the charred smoky flavour and juiciness of the meats. The Mac and cheese is tasty. The sausages are good. It’s hearty and filling but every bite was so good that it made it hard to stop eating.What I loved just as much as the mains was the banana pudding. It’s why I have two photos of it. The texture of the pudding is so smooth, the flavour delightful and now it’s my favourite dessert. Both times I had seconds and contemplated thirds. When we returned I joked to the bartender that I’d come back just to be reacquainted with the pudding again. It’s pretty much the truth.

Stopped in here today for the 1st time. I would highly recommend if you haven't tried it you definitely should! Every single employee was absolutely amazing! They were so polite and very helpful! The food was delicious! The best BBQ I've ever had! We had potato salad, collard greens, and slaw and all 3 were great! Everything was very clean and the atmosphere was perfect!However I dropped my license and didn't realize it. We walked outside to leave and paused for pictures. A very sweet young man came out and asked if I dropped it. Then told me to wait in my car and he ran back in and brought it to me. I live in NC and wouldn't have been able to drive all the way back for it! I'm sorry I didn't get his name but I appreciate him so much! We will most definitely be back!!! It was a perfect ending to out 2 day get away!!!

Waited about 15-20 minutes to order, food served at the counter, and seat yourself.Service was adequate.Restrooms and restaurant were clean.Several sauces/BBQ sauces to pick from (all tasted decent).Self-serve soda fountain.-1/2 lb. Pork Spare Ribs (Delicious)-1/2 lb. Brisket (Delicious)-Queso & Chips (Good)Husband felt it was the best BBQ he had on our week-long trip in South Carolina. Would recommend for BBQ lovers (not best option for non-meat lovers).

As soon as we walked in the door we were greeted by two awesome hostess, a security guard and Mr. Brain Hall himself! They asked were we celebrating anything and I said our anniversary and EVERYONE began wishing us a Happy Anniversary! We were immediately escorted to our table were we met the best waiter, Brandon (Brendan) and the manager who brought us two complimentary glasses of champagne for our anniversary! Things just got better from there! The drinks, the appetizers, the melt in your mouth steak, and the desert all STELLAR!! Waiter super knowledgeable and made great suggestions. The desert was complimentary for our anniversary as well. I felt like we were treated like royalty! We are from NY and visits A LOT of steakhouses. This has become our number 1 topping Peter Lugers and Smith and Wollenskys! The service and hospitality are SECOND TO NONE! Don’t hesitate, make the reservation. You won’t regret it!!!!

What an amazing experience we had here at Hall's! We e to celebrate my husband's birthday and they basically rolled out the red carpet for us from the moment we arrived. Customer service was off the charts good.They kicked off the night with two complimentary glasses of champagne. We order a cup of she crab soup and the lump crab cake for our appetizers and for entrees, I went with the queen cut prime rib and hubby got the Kansas City bone-in steak. We shared 1/2 portions of the creamed corn and the macaroni and cheese. The food was amazing and delicious. Portions were huge enough that we packed up and had enough for leftovers the next day. From the perfectly made co*cktails to the attention to details and exemplary service, we couldn't have asked for a nice birthday dinner. We even met Tommy, the owner, who was so nice and they sent my hubby his birthday dessert of choice (caramel cake) free of charge with a candle.Let me tell you, I left there feeling like it was my birthday too! Cannot recommend Hall's Chophouse Charleston enough! Thank you for making my husband's evening so special!

I would eat here every day for the rest of my life if I could. I thank the blessed heavens for this place existing. I cannot think of a more perfect restaurant for a meal that knocks it out of the park every single time in every single way. I hope the French Onion soup recipe is insured for millions of dollars. Although, if you’re sharing a bedroom with someone, I would caution you on the symphony of gastric theatrics it produces upon consumption. The southern caramel cake is *to die for*. Treat yourself to this place ASAP!!!

I went to Halls for my anniversary. I was early for my reservation and despite being very busy, I was quickly accommodated. The manager was fantastic and toasted our anniversary. The wait staff was very attentive and very knowledgeable. The waiter answered all our questions and made some very fantastic recommendations. The food was fantastic. The food is expensive, but it is worth every single penny. The value is there for the price. The meal was overall fantastic and so was the service. Do your mouth a favor and eat here

Halls Chophouse had not only exceptional food, but also gave an exceptional experience. First off, reservations seem to be a MUST! I booked about a month in advance and my options were 1600 or 2200. Upon getting there, everyone was so welcoming and asked if we were celebrating anything, which we were for our anniversary before my husband deployed. Once we were seated, we were given complimentary glasses of champagne and got the full run down of meats, their quality, and specials for the night. The food was spectacular. Especially walking around all day, it hit the spot, and the portions are perfect! Towards the end, Billy the owner, came by and had the sweetest conversation with us, bringing more complimentary champagne and also paid for our dessert. He was the sweetest and his staff clearly think highly of him, as do we. We could not have asked for a better dinner and for better service! Everything was beyond exceptional and we look forward to going back soon!

It was my first time dinning at Halls. It was by far the greatest experiences I have ever had in a restaurant they take fine dining to a whole Nother level. The hospitality is unmatched to any other place. Literally I asked what time they closed They said the kitchen closes at 11 but we leave and close doors. Once the last customer has finished enjoying their meal to me that is something that is unheard of, usually people are pressuring you to ask for your bill to pay and leave here. They asked me if I was ready to see the dessert menu after 11 truly show a different side of southern hospitality. I will be coming back as I am from Texas and let me just say Hall chophouse was the cherry on top to my visit to Charleston. I will be back soon.

We live local and stopped in for lunch… we were sat immediately and waited forever for food. The server was great and the food was even better. The owner greeted us and they gave our kids complimentary cheesecake. We will def be back in Thanksgiving and I am sure sooner.

Super fancy dining! It is pricey and the sides are table shareable sides. My friend and I were able to get a smaller portion of the shareable sides. The shrimp and grits was very good! The salmon was also cooked to perfection and flavored so well! Definitely worth the visit if you are looking for a fancy night out.

With some jazzy music being played softly in the background live by a piano player, drummer and bass player the room felt like the place to be at the moment. The team of servers never felt overwhelming, which can happen with multiple people taking care of you. The food escapes adjectives to properly describe how excellent it was. I was caught between wanting to devour everything and not wanting it to all be gone. Two thumbs way up

Very nice place to dine. For me it was about the customer service. The owner or head manager and assistant manager welcomed us several times and sincerely wanted us to have a great experience. The two team waiter team was phenomenal! And the live music. Wow! OUTSTANDING! However... you will not hear the live music while sitting in the dining room. Only in the bar area. We had field green salad, salmon, fried green tomatoes, and the shrimp and grits, and chocolate cake. Everything was outstanding. A MUST try.

Absolutely amazing! Even better than amazing. My boyfriend and I are on vacation in Charleston and we both agree we have never experienced EVER, the front of house and back of house service being so outstanding. From the moment we walked in the Maitre d’ greeted us with a smile and enthusiasm you do not see often when being greeted; she thoroughly enjoys her job. We had a 10pm reservation (the only reservation we could make for the week we were here because they were booked) and we showed up 30min early and they got us in right away. Jordan was our server and for all the years I’ve worked in the restaurant industry and owned a restaurant, she was the best server I have ever seen. Knowledgeable, happy, and attentive (I went to CIA and have worked with many people she is the best of the absolute best, keep her). From the greeting, to the service our drinks were the best we have had so far in Charleston, and then the food. You can tell that whoever is cooking the food truly loves what they do and care about the quality of dishes. If I could give this 10/10 stars I would and so would Eric. Thank you for a not just a culinary experience with food but also with your service

Wow! What and amazing experience here!Was greeted by the host as soon as we walked in and asked us what we were celebrating. Our server was great. Highly recommend the she crab soup and loaded mashed potatoes. Our waiter brought out the meat to show us what kind of steaks they had. They are flown from Japan and Chicago! The place gave us champagne and dessert on the house!!The owner walked up to our table and introduced himself as well. You feel like royalty eating here.

Fine dining for sure. I could hear the music before entering the restaurant, southern gospel. It reminded me of a Sunday service in church. It was Sunday brunch oh how delicious was the food. Our servers both names with a S I can't remember exactly but they gave us great suggestions and above top notch customer service. The drinks, pineapple mimosas were great as well. This restaurant is definitely stamped in my book. I see why you have to make a reservation way in advance I suggest. When planning your trip to Charleston call and make your reservations. I'm not sure if they play music everyday but the live band was a plus .

No bad choices here.....at.all❤️❤️. We shared the 45 day dry aged Tomahawk streak with lobster, shrimp, scallops, asparagus, creamed spinach, and creamed corn. Started with steak tartare and fries green tomatoes. AND.....the drinks were also DELICIOUS!!! Service was great, atmosphere was somewhat loud for mybtatae but that was far exceeds by excellent service and unparalleled FOOD and DRINKS!!Be ready to drop some coins though......spent nearly $400 between the two of us.....and NO DESSERT (for we were just TOO HAPPILY FULL!)😊😊

The bartenders were not only incredibly friendly, but also displayed impressive teamwork. When it came to ordering, I opted for the New York Strip and decided to add two succulent scallops and some mouthwatering stuffed mushrooms to my meal. Let me tell you, it was an absolute delight! This restaurant should be a must if you are visiting. This is a classic American steakhouse with the highest quality of service and food. Our server Gabrielle, was spot on with knowledge, kindness, and service. Everyone there made our honeymoon even more special.

Hall's Chophouse never disappoints! Their food, service, and atmosphere are second to none. Their steaks are high quality, occasionally having something super special like we did - A5 grade wagyu beef aged in an igloo on the side of a mountain in Japan. What the what!? It was a superior experience! Their bread is freshly baked sourdough that we must stop ourselves from eating too much and their sides are delicious, which can be ordered by a 1/2 orders. If you don't make a reservation, be prepared to wait a while!

Delicious food and a very old school atmosphere. I got the French onion soup and it had extra fried onion on top and a very gooey cheese. Ask for the bar menu if you aren’t given it when sitting at the bar too. The Martini steak cup was delicious and a great deal at the bar.

Attended Sunday Gospel Brunch to celebrate a friend's birthday. We arrived and were seated at our reserved time. The food was excellent. The party I was with tried different dishes and everyone enjoyed!

The HYPE is real! This place is awesome! Perfectly cooked steaks, big selection, the service was great, and the atmosphere is very inviting and welcoming -like they're are truly happy have you there and dining in their establishment. I mean you will get that vibe when one of the owners (Mr. hall) is out front greeting guests, introducing himself, and welcoming you.We walked in with no reservation and had 5 people. They were packed. We had just come from out of town and the host made it work (Thank you). We got set up with a small table in front, which worked out. Our server, Stuart (or Stewart?) was top tier-Attentive, knowledgeable,and informative.Perfectly medium rare (sorry for the poor photo, couldn't wait and cut it open)

Exceptional dining experience from start to finish - we checked in early for a birthday dinner and were greeted within minutes of arrival by manager Greg who took amazing care of us! Greg really went above and beyond to provide a top tier experience for us and it truly made the night special. Hands down the absolute BEST restaurant I have EVER been to in my 33 years of life from the atmosphere, to the food, to the service is OUTSTANDING! Me and my lady got married and came here to celebrate the day and we were greeted by EVERY employee there with a “Thank you for being here” and it just felt so genuine. They asked us if we were there to celebrate and I told them we had just gotten married, we received extensive congrats from everyone and they sat us in a nice quiet room all by ourselves and we were greeted by THE BEST waitress named Gabriella O. Her knowledge and pitch of the menu and their current specials were PHENOMENAL, I mean she had it memorized and on point! 💪👌 She was just the sweetest waitress and could not have been any better. She honestly made it so we will be back any chance we get to celebrate, especially for our anniversaries!

A couple weeks ago, I took someone special to Halls for his birthday! The love, care and respect we received were matched only by exquisite cuisine and stellar service. In fact, so people waited on us, sadly we could not keep up with names! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for such a lovely experience. We will be back! Was in town for our anniversary and made it here for our special anniversary dinner!!!! Everything was soooooooooooo good!!!! It was really busy inside and loud but man, the food was all worth it!!! I went to Halls Chophouse on a girls trip with my two friends to celebrate my birthday and to celebrate that two of us are pregnant. The staff customized our experience and made us feel so special by bringing out grape juice in flute glasses (instead of champagne), and then gave a slice of cheesecake for us to celebrate my birthday. We didn’t request any of that special treatment, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel celebrated. To top it off, they sent us a thank you note afterward (see picture included) and mentioned our pregnancies and birthday celebrations! I’ve never had such a personalized experience at a chophouse, it was amazing. The food was phenomenal and our server explained every cut of meat and how it is prepared so that we were fully informed before ordering. Halls Chophouse was impressive from start to finish; during the rest of our girls trip we kept saying that we wish we lived in Charleston so we could keep supporting this restaurant. Thank you again, Halls Chophouse!

Hands down, the best vibe of any steakhouse that I have eaten at. The energy and decor are on point. The owners made us feel welcome upon entering and eating. The food was delicious. I had the Caesar salad and lamb chops. Honestly, the lamb chops might be the best that I have ever had. My only disappointment was the attentiveness of our server. He lacked luster! Overall, a must-visit in Charleston.

I was making a pit stop in Charleston and decided to try this restaurant out because I heard the live music and thought this would be a good place to unwind for the night. I am so glad I did because everything was superb! The food, the service from the restaurant (OMG IT WAS AN Experience),and my magnificent waiter Lance(HE WAS WONDERFUL). Everything was wonderful. Lance went over and beyond to make sure that we were had the most magnificent experience. The service from the restaurant was like no other. The food was fresh and well prepared. Everything we ate was very flavorful and delicious. Compliments to the chef for such a wonderful meal. We could the love and passion for cooking in our meal😁It was such a great experience. Their customer service was A-plus! If you have never been to this restaurant in downtown Charleston South Carolina, you MUST go. Trust me when I say it is an experience if I could I would give this restaurant 100 stars and give my waiter Lance 250 stars. Next time I visit Charleston South Carolina I will make it my business to eat at this restaurant again.

Sunday Gospel Brunch for Mother's day was wonderful. A special occasion for sure. The corn skillet and french toast were winners(besides the Filet and Ribeye we added to our table, 😋) Apple pie a la model was perfect.

Excellent food and service! I accidentally made our reservation for PM instead of AM, on Easter Sunday. The host stand didn’t miss a beat and found us a table without hesitation…in fact they didn’t even tell me until we were seated. We were celebrating my husband’s 40th birthday and they spoiled us with champagne and a free dessert. Our waitress was fantastic, the music for Gospel Brunch was so fun, and the food was delicious. Highly recommend!

We stopped in to celebrate my partner’s birthday since he loves Asian fusion. Some things were excellent and others were a miss. The drinks were ok but nothing spectacular. Service was decent though the food seemed overpriced even for Charleston. We sat outside since the weather was nice. I may give it another try when back in town but I wouldn’t put it on top of the list.

A little disappointed. It wasn't a bad meal, but I think my expectations were set too high based on the reviews Iread. The staff was exceptionally friendly, but I couldn't get over the flies--inside and out--which really detracted from the overallexperience.I also felt I had to remind staff about my meal because every other table was getting served before us, and we got our meal as soon as we were asked if we were waiting for anything. The Okonomiyaki didn't live up to thehype.As someone who frequently enjoys authentic and fusion food in the NYC area, I was expecting a pancake-like consistency and distinctiveflavors.However, it ended up being a salad more than anything in myopinion.Fortunately, I had opted for the egg add-on, which I highly recommend, as it almost completes thedish(it's a shame that the add-ons cost extra).I also felt the portion sizes were quite small considering the price.On the other hand, the fried dumplings were absolutelyamazing.I honestly preferred them over the noodles and Okonomiyaki that everyone seems to raveabout.Overall, I left with mixed feelings.While the staff was friendly and the fried dumplings were outstanding, the presence of bugs, underwhelming Okonomiyaki, and small portion sizes left me somewhatdisappointed. I mean this in the most respectful way; I have no idea how they keep getting the positive reviews they keep getting, I might have caught them on a bad day, but all the "recent" reviews make me doubtful

A great place for dinner, it’s quite delicious. I love the hipster atmosphere they have going on. You walk in and know things are getting made from scratch. Staff is friendly and attentive, portions are shareable. My only complaint was the meals were extremely salty, not sure if that’s the norm or if it was just our dish. The salt overpowered the flavors. Still delicious.

My friends and I stopped here for lunch while at a conference in Charleston and we really enjoyed our meal! It’s a cute place with friendly staff and the food was delicious! We ordered the dumplings which were tasty but seemed overpriced. I ordered the okonomiyaki based on all the amazing reviews online and it did not disappoint! Would recommended

Greatest dinner in downtown Charleston hands-down I would like to see other dishes aswell at this restaurant. Also you get a bang for your buck and quality food I will waste my money with this restaurant any day. Cool headed professional staff as well. And the way they make takeout is so beautiful I just slide my food right on my plate when I get home. Very humble natural atmosphere no TVs.

After reading the previous reviews I was on the fence but decided to take a chance and I am so happy we did. The food was balanced in flavor and you could tell the ingredients were fresh and at their peak. You left feeling satisfied and not full. Meaning you are no longer hungry but not stuffed. The tell tale sign of clean preparation. (I.e. no heavy oils etc) take the leap, you will be happy that you did.

Loved the Fancy Boy Rice & Som Tum w/ Chicken. It's definitely a must try. I love the family style dining as well.

What a gem of the restaurant. It is a very funky place, so cool and unique. The menu is limited but the food is absolutely delicious. Some dishes were quite spicy like papaya salad but tasted so good. Dumplings were amazing. And the okonomiyaki - cabbage pancake so delicious. They do not make any changes to their dishes. The portions are very generous. Highly recommended.

Very quaint spot great for family and friends . Parking is relatively easy to find on the weekends . I would recommend the side of rice , house ginger beer and the stir fry chicken dish . Wait staff were great. For those with salt sensitivity though I would hold on the veggies due to the sauce. I would come here again and try the Thai beef.

A lovely dining experience, the menu is limited but don't let that deter you. The dishes they offer are flavorful and delicious. Valentina our server was gracious and attentive. Miles the bartender crafts a truly delightful co*cktail, the Petra added an amazing flavor profile to our meals. The restaurant itself is quaint, comfortable and full of character. This place has incredible food and friendly service. They make their own dumplings, which are excellent. The red snapper dish with curry is also absolutely phenomenal. I really enjoyed the okonomyaki cabbage pancake, and got all of the extra optional toppings. Would highly recommend trying it out! The only thing that is keeping me from giving this establishment five stars, is that they don't accept cash, which seems very odd, and is disincentivizing to come back. I felt like it was made into a big deal to accept US currency.

It was our final night in Charleston and we had already eaten dinner, but I saved this place for a long time and wanted to try it before we left! We came here already full, and despite this, had an amazing experience with EXCELLENT food! Xiao Bao Biscuit really is a gem of Charleston - if you like unique, creative Asian fusion food, this is the place to go. We got their Lucky Dog Sake (imported from Japan in a little juice box container; very creative), fried dumplings with chili caramel lemongrass pork and peanut filling, as well as the pad kra pow. Everything was awesome!! The sake was great, the pad kra pow was amazing (easily as good as the best we had when visiting Thailand last year), and the fried dumplings were on another level of good!! They were some of the best dumplings we’ve ever tried, and top it off, they were gluten-free! I absolutely recommend getting these before anything else - I could have 20 of them and still not get tired. This is an amazing place, service is wonderful, and I totally recommend visiting next time you visit Charleston!

Okay first timer did not know what to expect after reading the menu, but I will say after ordering my dish that I would recommend this to anyone looking to be adventurous. The food was bursting with flavor it really targets the senses. The staff was beautiful and friendly. I ended up receiving a compliment when all I wanted to do the entire time was compliment the woman who served me. 😊

Maybe if I were a drinker, this would have been easier to enjoy. I love asian food and hunt it down anywhere I travel but there's a difference between good asian food and pretentious asian food.The menu is small and offers a couple of good options of different backgrounds without a central theme or cohesive factor. It's family style, which is explained a couple of times, so expect to pay high prices for small amounts of food.We ordered the whipped feta topped with chili crisp. It was described as having half a baguette but really was just four small pieces of bread. It's not the best flavor combo. We also got the pad kra pow, which was greasy as anything I've ever had and salted beyond belief. The fried rice was vegetarian, so they threw in black beans like an unflavored jjajangmyeon. Also, it is somehow greasy and salted beyond any reasonable measure. The okonomiyaki was good and crisp.Overall, it's not great.

We stopped in here before heading out of Charleston. The weather was still sunny with blue skies so we sat outside at their lovely picnic tables. We started with the bao buns. Super pillowy buns as anticipated and the pork belly was cooked perfectly. For my main course, I got the local fish with the plantain curry. This for me fell short as it was lacking flavor. My friend however got the drunken noodles which provided a little more oomph for my palate. I had meant to order the fried dumplings to end the meal, but I had accidentally ordered the croquettes instead. However, this was a happy mistake as they were delicious. The exterior was fried perfectly and the inside was soft like mashed potatoes. The real show stopper here was the Japanese curry tonkatsu sauce that they were plated with. This was wicked tasty and this was the flavorful curry that I was searching for in my main course. It was a little spendy, but I think if we were to come back here, we would stick to a couple small plates!

DELICIOUS! Located in an old gas station Xiao Bao Biscuit is an absolute gem. Start with some tasty co*cktails, maybe one with schezuan to get your taste buds jumping, and follow it up with some delicious family style food. The okonomiyaki is a delicious meal, especially with the pork candy on top! Will certainly be back for dinner to get some Bao buns as well!On top of everything you get to watch then make home made dumplings!

The pad kra pow was delicious! Perfectly crispy beef packed with flavor. The egg yoke was the perfect sauce, I recommend getting an extra egg for that big bowl.Chill atmosphere, classic green tables. Friendly service!

Visited this place for the first time over the weekend. The food is not very good, service and atmosphere were okay. Ordered a few things from the menu to try it out. We got okonomiyaki, fried dumplings and som tum Salad. The okonomyaki though it was burned in the bottom, it was the most eatable. The fried dumpling and the som tum salad were spiced just right but lacked flavor. The food was overpriced; I’ll not go back for sure.

WOW! The pictures aren’t great (food was delivered), but this is one the best meals I've ever had! We ordered the Okonomiyaki, Fried Dumplings, Pad Kra Pow, and a side of rice. I would order everything again. The mochi dumplings were 10/10! 👌🏿

The dishes aren't authentic but they are very good interpretations of them. The okonomiyaki had just the right amount of sweetness and the pad kra is spicy without being too hot. The basil comes through without overpowering.

It's a nice hipster looking place with indie and alternative music in the background 🎸 the staff is super friendly and you can see that they work as a team and get along 👯‍♂️I tolerate spicy very little and well 😅 this place has very few menu options and several of them are, guest what? spicy 🌶️😅 however the good reviews and photos made us come 😊 the little I tried from my boyfriend's dish (Pad Kra Pao) it seemed to me that the meat was very well seasoned, and he was fascinated by his dish, the buns we ordered to share were delicious, sweet and soft, both the bun and the meat 🤤; my greens tasted sooooo good, we were impressed; the Jiao Zi were a surprise, I had never tried that flavor profile and I It seemed very interesting honestly but I also started to burn my mouth 🥵 our waitress Natalie saw me struggling with water and my ginger beer and brought me 🥥 milk like 🥹❤️ it was the freakin’ sweetest and most considerate gesture on the 🌎 because I knew that it would be spicy and I still took the risk and didn't ask for help but she was watching our table so she noticed it 🥰 honestly super attentive not only with that but with her whole service during our stay, I am so pleased whenever I get actual quality services, 5 stars for Natalie ⭐️💪We were satisfied in our tummies and our hearts 💕 (and had some leftovers to go 😋)

I was so excited for okonomiyaki. It's such an overlooked Japanese cuisine in foreign markets.I was a bit mystified by the menu, since even the katsuoboshi was an extra charge. I asked the waiter about the okonomiyaki sauce & he looked super confused and said "it has sriracha & mayo" and then kind of nodded & said it had the okonomiyaki toppings.I guess I expected a little more for $18 ($22 when you add the pork & katsuoboshi). It was literally just a grilled cabbage mix with such little batter mix, it ended up a soggy slurry on the plate. There was no dashi flavor or ginger or okonomiyaki sauce. I felt like I was eating warm coleslaw with sriracha & furikake. I really missed the tanginess of the sauce. I get that this place doesn't tie themselves to authenticity, but there really wasn't any hint of the texture, umami, or sweet/sour of the authentic dish and it just seemed so (literally) watered down.The $2 katsuoboshi was the best part of the dish. Very high quality & absolutely worth the add.

Came in because we wanted a light dinner and it was close to where we were staying - ended up being a good choice quantity-wise because the portions here are quite small.We ordered the fat noodles and the cabbage pancake. The noodles were honestly quite salty to the point where I was glad that the portion was small. The cabbage pancake is quite nice.We also got a mule which was ok.

Came here from the amount of reviews of this place, what could go wrong:) I’m stunned by the absurd taste of food. There’s nothing you can taste other than salty! The chef could have put a whole box of salt in! Dumplings are also salty, it’s insane how simple everyday Asian dish is made wrong in every sense.
